Chapter 9 - Preparation

The morning light poured through the large windows of the castle's dining hall, illuminating the long wooden table that had hosted them the night before. Now, it was once again occupied by four important figures: Erwin Smith, Levi Ackerman, Kambe Yukito, and Rimuru Tempest.

Erwin sipped his black coffee, its bitter aroma mingling with the crisp morning air. His eyes were fixed on Yukito, who sat confidently with his arms crossed. Rimuru, as usual, appeared relaxed.

"So this is the one," Erwin said flatly. "The man sent from another world, bringing a plan to overturn the very structure of Eldia's rule."

Erwin already knew about this world's future—thanks to Levi, who had given him copies of the Attack on Titan manga. Levi had also informed him that someone from another world had arrived.

Yukito nodded. "I bring more than just a plan, Commander. I bring knowledge and solutions from the future."

Erwin turned to Levi. "And you trust him?"

Levi met his commander's gaze. "I do. I admit he's just as crazy as you are, Erwin. But everything he's said so far… has turned out to be true. And he didn't come alone."

Rimuru gave a slight smile and raised his teacup. "Yukito isn't ordinary. He has strategies, and… well, weapons far more advanced than anything this world has ever seen."

"Alright. Start from the beginning. Right here. Think of this as our war room," Erwin said.

Yukito stood and spread out a detailed map of Paradis Island, showing Wall Maria, Wall Rose, and Wall Sheena. He pointed to several key locations on the map.

"It all begins after the Female Titan incident at Wall Sheena. That's the turning point—when public trust in the government starts to waver. That's when we make our move: force Rod Reiss to publicly acknowledge Historia as the true heir to the throne."

Rimuru leaned in toward the map. "I can help with that. Using my magic, we can create an illusion or replay a vision that reveals who Historia really is. That would be irrefutable proof."

Erwin listened carefully, his face tense but calm. "And what comes next?"

"Once Historia becomes queen, we'll retrieve the blueprints for the Thunder Spears from the Military Police headquarters in Mitras," Yukito replied. "That weapon will be the key to defeating the Armored Titan—and others."

Erwin nodded slowly. "If this plan works, it could shake the very foundations of the old power. But if it fails… we'll all be executed for treason."

"We won't fail," Yukito said firmly. "This is the only path to awaken the people of Eldia to the truth that there is life beyond these walls. Which is why we must retake Wall Maria and reach the Yeager family's basement to obtain proof that the outside world exists—something undeniable."

Yukito looked Erwin straight in the eye, his expression sharp and filled with resolve. The room fell silent, save for the soft ticking of an old clock on the wall.

"Commander Erwin," Yukito said, his tone deeper, "I want to know one thing… will you allow Eren to initiate the Rumbling—or stop him?"

Erwin slowly set down his cup. His hands came together near his mouth as he stared at Yukito, deep in thought. Levi and Rimuru also turned toward him, waiting for the answer that might determine the course of their future.

At last, Erwin spoke, his voice calm but heavy.

"Eren is the key," he said. "The Founding Titan's power can only be fully used by him... and if the outside world really does intend to wipe out Paradis, then the Rumbling might be our only defense."

"True," Yukito replied. "But that also means slaughtering millions outside the island. You know full-scale Rumbling would be global genocide. Are you willing to let Eren go through with it?"

Erwin paused, his eyes lingering on the map—a depiction of a world divided by walls and ignorance.

"I don't support mass killing," he finally said, quietly but firmly. "But I also can't deny that this power is the only reason Eldia hasn't already been destroyed. If I must choose between our annihilation and giving Eren the path to act... then I'll choose the one that offers even a sliver of hope."

Yukito took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment. His expression seemed heavier now.

"To be honest…" he said slowly, opening his eyes to face Erwin, Levi, and Rimuru with a deep calmness, "…I can't interfere too much in this world's affairs."

Rimuru turned to him, confused. "What do you mean, Yukito?"

Yukito lowered his head slightly and leaned back in his chair. "This world isn't mine. I wasn't born here. I'm not part of its history. I know a lot because I've seen it all before—as a story. But in the end… it's you who have the right to decide the future. Those who were born and raised in this world."

Erwin listened in silence, arms still folded across his chest.

"I can offer advice, provide strategies, even warn of what's coming. But I'm just… an outsider offering a different perspective. The final choice is yours—Erwin, Eren, Historia, and the people living behind these walls," Yukito said calmly.

The room fell silent again after Yukito's words.

"What Yukito-sama said is true, Rimuru-sama," Daikenja's voice echoed in Rimuru's mind.

"What do you mean, Daikenja?" Rimuru asked.

"It's like this, Rimuru-sama. We may not be able to change the ending of this world, but we can still save those we love," Daikenja replied.

"Hm... You're right, Daikenja," Rimuru said in agreement.

Erwin gave a slight nod, then said in a calm voice, "You're right. And it's precisely because you're not forcing your will on us that we can trust your input."

"Yes... which is why we'll follow your plan, Yukito. As for the Rumbling, that decision will be Eren's," Levi said, with Erwin nodding in agreement.

"Very well then… Now let's move on to preparations for the Battle of Trost," Yukito declared.

He stood from his seat and pointed at Trost District.

"Here. Trost," he said firmly. "In two day, the Colossal Titan will appear and destroy the outer gate. That will open a path for the Titans to enter the district."

All eyes focused seriously on the map.

"Our first priority," Yukito continued, moving his finger toward the residential area, "is to evacuate the civilians. No matter how strong our military strategy is, if the people die—we've already lost. The evacuation needs to be fast and organized. I want the forces divided: one team fights on the front lines, the other focuses solely on evacuation."

Erwin nodded. "Evacuation will be led directly by senior officers and instructors."

"Good," Yukito replied, then turned to Levi. "Levi, I'll need your help in the worst-case scenario."

Levi narrowed his eyes. "Name it."

"If events unfold as I remember, Eren will get eaten by a Titan. But if that doesn't happen, I want you to order him to transform. If he succeeds but loses control, I need you to handle him."

"I can do that," Levi replied—flat, but firm. "And if he can control it?"

Yukito gave Levi a small smile. "Then tell him to seal the outer gate. That will be humanity's first real symbol of hope and power since the Titans appeared. Make sure he doesn't make a wrong move."

Erwin looked at the map, then turned his gaze to Yukito.

"I'll prepare the supply and medical units at the Survey Corps HQ," he said quietly but firmly. "Instructor Shadis will be given orders to tighten discipline and ensure all cadets are combat-ready. I'll inform Commander Pixis and Commander Nile tomorrow to place some troops near Trost District. But…"

He paused and looked at Yukito with a serious expression.

"…I won't tell them about the Colossal Titan."

Rimuru looked surprised. "What do you mean, Commander Erwin? Can't we just tell them?"

Erwin replied without hesitation. "If we tell them, two things might happen: first, they won't believe us. Second—and far more dangerous—they might panic, or even leak the information accidentally. We can't take that risk."

Yukito nodded slowly. "That makes sense. In that case, only those of us in this room will know the truth. Let the moment unfold as it originally did—except this time, we'll be one step ahead."
