Only the Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps could contend with the Twelve Kizuki, so Shinichi's fear was understandable.
"Twelve Kizuki? What's that?" Inosuke, unaware, asked innocently.
Shinichi felt a wave of exasperation. He wasn't sure whether to answer such a naive question.
"They're very strong {demons}," Tanjiro explained simply.
"So ga! Then I'll kill them!" Inosuke, undeterred, was eager to fight.
"Is this guy an idiot?" Shinichi wondered.
Ryuji stopped Inosuke. Inosuke didn't insist on confronting Lower Rank Four.
A humanoid black mist appeared beside Lower Rank Four, instantly transforming into a man with the same markings in his eyes: "Lower Rank" and "Three."
The arrival of another Twelve Kizuki member intensified the tension.
The overwhelming presence of two Lower Ranks made Tanjiro struggle to breathe.
Shinichi collapsed to his knees. Encountering two Lower Ranks meant certain death.
Shinji, disappointed but not dismissive of his brother's fear, pulled him up, encouraging him, "Brother! Don't be afraid. Ryuji-senpai will protect us!"
He placed his hope in Ryuji, believing in his ability to perform miracles.
"You're impressive, killing Lower Rank Six! You're handsome too, but you and the guy with the flower cards will die by my and Lower Rank Three's hands!" the naked Lower Rank Four licked her lips seductively.
Ryuji understood they were sent by Muzan Kibutsuji; the assassination order remained.

While there was no penalty, the rewards were substantial. Success would significantly enhance Ryuji's Demonification abilities and normal strength. Mastering both breathing techniques would be a quantum leap.
"Tanjiro, these Lower Ranks are sent by Muzan Kibutsuji to kill us. You deal with the {demon} controlling the silk; I'll handle these two," Ryuji decided, wanting Tanjiro to deal with the spider silk while he focused on the fight.
