Shinichi thought Ryuji was crazy to fight two opponents at once. They were two Lower Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki! Even if Ryuji had killed one before, he couldn't be so arrogant as to fight two. Shinichi believed Ryuji's previous victory was due to luck and Tanjiro's help, not overwhelming strength.
His lack of confidence was understandable; he didn't know the extent of Ryuji's power. With Demonification, Ryuji could easily overpower, if not instantly defeat, Lower Ranks Four and Three. He could always forfeit the mission reward to survive.
Tanjiro was surprised but not doubtful. He agreed with Ryuji's decision; they needed to find the source of the spider silk to free the controlled Slayers. Saving people was more important than assisting Ryuji.
"I understand! Inosuke, two Lower Ranks are interfering with my sense of smell. Can you find the {demon} controlling the spider silk? We need to split up as Ryuji-senpai suggested!" Tanjiro asked Inosuke.
The strong scents of the two Lower Ranks overwhelmed his sense of smell.
Inosuke, proud to be asked for help, boasted, "Finding {demons}? In the mountains, finding things is my specialty! My spatial awareness is excellent, except in confined spaces!"
He knelt, hands outstretched, sensing his surroundings.
"Beast Breathing, Seventh Form: Spatial Awareness!"
He sensed all living beings within a kilometer radius. Using the characteristics of {demons}, he quickly located a third {demon}.
"There!" Inosuke pointed.
"Shinichi-senpai, Shinji! Let's go! Leave this to Ryuji-senpai!" Tanjiro urged.
Shinji trusted Ryuji and nodded. Shinichi, however, thought both Tanjiro and Ryuji were insane to leave Ryuji alone against two Lower Ranks.
"Crazy! Crazy!" he muttered.
"You're confident! Facing us alone? You underestimate us!" Lower Rank Four attacked, her arm extending like clay towards Ryuji, wrapping around him.
"If you don't want to die, leave! Do you want to watch?" Ryuji shouted at Shinichi.
His commanding tone stunned Shinichi, who fled immediately.
