"Get in. I'll drive you," Gilbert said, pulling up alongside Claire as she walked along the path outside the kindergarten toward the bus stop. He rolled down the window and called out to her.
"No need, Mr. Watson. We're not going the same way. You go ahead," Claire replied without even looking back, her tone indifferent as she quickened her pace.
Gilbert watched her distant figure from the driver's seat, stroking his chin thoughtfully. This woman was proving harder to approach than he had expected.
But so what? Didn't she once try to climb into his bed, only to be discarded in the end?
He stepped on the accelerator and sped forward. As he passed by Claire, he deliberately made the luxury car swerve slightly, showing off.
What a foolish woman. He offered her a ride in a Rolls-Royce, and she turned him down. Any other woman would've jumped at the chance.
