Midway through, Bonnie stepped aside to make a call. After dinner, when the two walked out of the restaurant, Derek had just gotten into the car, but Bonnie suddenly stopped. She bent down and said to him, "Derek, I just remembered I left something at my parents' place. You go ahead, I'll head back for a moment."
Derek's gaze settled on her face. "I'll go with you."
"No need, I'll be quick." Bonnie leaned in and kissed the corner of his lips with a smile. "Go home and wait for me."
Before he could react, she raised her hand and closed the car door for him.
Bonnie returned to her own car. Seeing he still hadn't left, she waved in his direction before starting the engine and disappearing from his view.
Derek watched the direction her car had gone, silent.
The driver, seeing him quietly staring after her for so long, hesitated. "Mr. Lee… should we head back?"
