Just then, a slow, lazy voice brushed past her ear. "What a shame, someone's about to get slapped in the face again."
Marian turned her head and met a pair of stunning cat-like eyes. The woman blinked at her playfully.
"Miss Wesley, what are you talking about? I don't understand."
"You don't?" Bonnie looked at Marian's forcibly controlled expression, feeling immensely satisfied. Her eyes curved pleasantly. "Then never mind!"
Marian's breaths were tight. "I have things to do. Please tell Clifford's parents I'm leaving."
Without waiting for a response, she turned and walked away.
Bonnie watched her retreating figure, straightened up, and let out a soft amused hum.
Meanwhile, Marian immediately dialed Josh.
The moment he picked up, her voice shot up uncontrollably. "Didn't you say his surgery was impossible?!"
Josh sounded even more stunned than she was. "Clifford's surgery succeeded? How is that possible?"
Marian shut her eyes and hung up.
