The man's long, pale fingers dangled a set of keys who knew when he'd made them and his voice was low, lazy, and sinfully smooth. "I'm here, darling."
Bonnie froze.
She yanked off her headphones, set her laptop aside, and bolted toward the door at record speed.
But Derek caught her around the waist, pulling her firmly into his arms. Bonnie let out a soft scream. "Ah, don't come any closer!"
He chuckled lowly, amused, holding down the feisty little wildcat struggling in his arms. He pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Now… how should I deal with you?"
"You heartless man, you—"
Before she could finish, he hoisted her effortlessly over his shoulder. Blood rushed to her head as she shrieked, "What are you doing?!"
He gave her a light smack on her hip. "Don't move."
Bonnie immediately went still, her voice small and pitiful. "I was wrong, I won't do it again…"
"Derek—Derek, please…"
He ignored her.
Bonnie tried again, voice syrupy sweet. "Darling, baby, my dearest boyfriend…"
