Oath and Fire
Johnnys chair made a noise as it scraped against the stone floor when Johnny stood up really fast his eyes looked really angry.
The echo was loud in the room like a noise that tells you something is wrong. For a moment nobody did anything. The light from the torch moved across the mans face showing the lines around his mouth. These lines were, from fighting many times and losing too many times. The echo and the torchlight made the mans face look like it was showing the strain of all the battles and all the losses of the man.
His voice was really quiet, at first it was shaking with a lot of emotion that he was trying to hold then it just burst out.
We promised to stand by you my Lord. It does not feel right to let you go into danger by yourself. That would be going against the promise we made to you my Lord. We said we would be, with you no matter what. Now you want to walk into fire all alone. That is not what we promised, my Lord.
