The Empty Chair
The big wooden door creaked loudly the hinges made a terrible noise as the door slowly opened. A little bit of light came out into the hallway. Then with one push the big heavy door opened all the way.
— How dare you just walk here without asking if you can come in? You should not have entered my place without getting permission from me.
The words cracked through the chamber like a whip.
The air felt really strange. Shadows were moving over the stone walls because of the light, from the lamps. The voice was still. It sounded very serious. This voice was used to being obeyed. It was not afraid to punish people. The air itself seemed to stiffen when this voice was heard. Shadows jumped across the stone walls, caught in the lamplights flicker while the echo of the voice lingered. The voice of someone who was hard disciplined and used to obedience and consequences.
