The lobby was filled with employees, all of whom had excited expressions about them. I noticed my secretary from among the crowd, smiling excitedly even though I wasn't sure if his excitement was genuine. Come on, who would be genuinely excited when my resumption meant more work for them?
There were colourful ribbons tied to the lintels of the windows in the lobby so that their loose ends flapped with the direction of the wind.
Idris was with them, holding a bottle of champagne, and smiling with a smug expression. Beneath the cheerful smile was an underlying smile. I could tell with the way his eyes flickered from one end of the room to another at intervals, and how easily carried away he got in the midst of the celebration.
