Leonard's question put me off guard, and made me think seriously for the first time about forgiving his parents.
I had no idea why I suddenly felt sympathetic towards them, especially his mom. Well, I did but had no intention of thinking about anything near it now or anytime soon.
"The need to forgive, and the impact forgiving your parents would have on our kids." I replied after stuttering for a few minutes. It sounded like a good reason, so I applauded myself secretly. I had thought of it after deciding that I was not ready to disclose the actual reason for my sudden change of heart to Leonard.
Leonard looked closely at me for a few seconds, as if in scrutiny before looking away. I noticed just then that I had also successfully taken his mind off Vanessa even though forgiving his parents was nearly as traumatizing for him as thinking about Vanessa.
"I'll need time to wrap my head around the thought." He said after a while, and I squealed in my head.
