Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: Frozen Streets, Crimson Rivers

"Thank you for the help," Kojou said, rubbing his neck where Akatsuki had cut it off. It seemed he had gotten too caught up in the thrill of killing, allowing her to swiftly decapitate him.

Kojou hadn't hidden the fact that he was immortal, and had even told Akatsuki not to hesitate to kill him if she ever saw him lose himself in the pleasure of slaughter and destruction. That's exactly what she had done—without a shred of guilt—knowing that he would come back regardless.

"So, what did I do?" Kojou asked, his memory hazy. He couldn't recall what had driven Akatsuki to kill him, especially since she had told him she wouldn't as long as he stuck to killing zombies.

"You completely lost your mind—you even tried to kill a little girl who was asking for your help," Akatsuki replied, her voice devoid of blame or anger toward Kojou. She knew his condition and couldn't fault him for it.

"I see… Thank you for the help," Kojou nodded lightly, checking his surroundings. It seemed Akatsuki had carried him to a rooftop so that he wouldn't wake up surrounded by zombies.

"No need to thank me, but could you clear the road? Miyamoto-san and the others can't move the supplies because of the zombie corpses blocking the way," Akatsuki said, gazing at the ruined streets choked with unmoving undead bodies.

"No problem." Kojou shook his head lightly and stood up. Though this was the first time he had died since becoming the Fourth Primogenitor, he felt no particular discomfort—there was no change in his body, almost as if he hadn't died at all.

Upon rising, Kojou stretched slightly before his silver hair began to take on an icy-blue hue. A golden mask formed over his eyes, a pair of pure white wings unfurled from his back, and patches of fish-like scales appeared across his skin.

Although Kojou considered summoning Alrescha-Glacies to handle things directly, he decided against it. At over ten meters in length, her mere presence would cause immense damage. Instead, he chose to channel her full power through his own body, a far less destructive approach.

Still, Kojou had to admit—it had been a while since he felt this relaxed and unrestrained. He'd been suppressing his urge to kill and destroy for so long that it constantly weighed on him. Now, having vented over 90% of those impulses, both his mind and body felt lighter than ever, granting him a sense of freedom he hadn't known in ages.

"..." Akatsuki stared at him for a moment before leaping away quickly—she felt she would turn into a statue of ice if she lingered near him even a second longer.

Without saying much, Kojou extended his hand toward the street before him. Everything within his line of sight began to freeze solid. The power of Alrescha-Glacies was so great that even a human wielder could freeze an entire city into a solid block of ice within seconds. For Kojou, this was trivial—freezing a city in moments was nothing compared to the true extent of her power.

But for now, Kojou didn't need to unleash that much strength. He used just enough to freeze every zombie corpse in the street down to the cellular level, intending to shatter them into icy dust and let the wind carry them away—solving the problem of the roadblock without leaving piles of bodies behind.

"..." Akatsuki watched silently, a trace of fear in her eyes. The level of power Kojou displayed was something even a Grand Sorcerer couldn't casually show. He seemed utterly at ease wielding such terrifying might, freezing living beings on a cellular scale—yet it was clear he wasn't even going all out.

Under Kojou's power, the zombie corpses—now frozen into crystalline blocks—crumbled and dissolved into icy dust that vanished into the wind without drama or spectacle. Kojou nodded slightly at the sight before resuming his work; with over a thousand corpses to handle, he had to take them down one group at a time, carefully controlling his strength to avoid unnecessary destruction.

Under the gleam of the moon above, the scene was both beautiful and horrifying—grotesque zombie bodies turning to frost and drifting away into the night breeze. Only a few people were close enough to witness it, and none dared to approach, afraid they might become icy dust themselves.

"This should be the last one…" Kojou muttered, eyeing the final small mound of corpses. He froze them into a sculpture of ice before reducing them to drifting frost that vanished into the wind.

Though the corpses were gone, the street remained entirely stained red, zombie blood flowing like a river from end to end. Kojou left it as it was—there was no need to clean it, especially since the blood had already dried. While the sight would terrify ordinary people, Kojou didn't mind; if anything, it would keep others away from an area marked by such dread.

"Finally done…" Kojou murmured, stretching. The cleanup had taken less than ten minutes, yet he longed for a break. After the initial relief and exhilaration of releasing his killing urge, exhaustion crept in—along with an intense hunger. "Can't wait to get a shower… and some food."
