*Note: Ok, this is another chapter. I don't want to tell you my problems but I'll quit my job soon. Why? Because it's a shit and I already find a new one better and well paid. That's mean that I couldn't be able to write on mornings and this is troublesome for me but... I'll make an effort and write in the afternoons so don't worry.
Anyways, like always, you can tell me your opinions and suggestions. Have a good day :)
...
Yami was slammed to the ground by Akira in her Four Arms form.
"Another monster?" – Yami asked as she got up from the ground with great difficulty.
"That's right" - I nodded.
"You are really strong, I admit it" – Yami said.
"Then stop saying and doing stupid things and listen to me once and for all" – I said calmly.
Yami bit her lips hard.
"Why?" – Yami asked.
"What do you mean?" – I asked curiously.
"Why do you insist so much that I leave this life? Why do you try to help me even though you know what I am? You just met me and you don't know anything about me. How can you know that this is not the life I want? How can you believe you understand me? Do you want me to stay because you want my body?" – Yami asked.
Yami didn't understand. Why did this human keep insisting that she go with him? Did he want her body? Many had desired her for her beauty, but all those who had tried to force themselves on her ended up buried meters underground.
"I won't deny that I like you. I was captivated by your beauty the moment I saw you for the first time" - I admitted with a nod.
"I knew it, you...!" she tried to say.
"But! But I don't want to save you just because of that" – I said.
"Then... Why?" – Yami asked again.
"Does it take a reason to help someone who is suffering?" – I asked curiously.
At that moment, Yami opened her eyes in surprise. Suffering? Her? In that instant, memories she had once sworn to bury deep within herself began to resurface.
She had been created as a weapon by a certain scientist, but no one had ever told her that her purpose in life was to kill or be an assassin. That was simply the goal she had come to believe was her destiny. But… did being created as a weapon mean she had to enjoy killing? No. Now that she thought about it, she had never enjoyed it. She had never smiled, not even after killing cruel and ruthless criminals. She never felt good about ridding the galaxy of such threats.
She had never felt satisfied being an assassin, because although she had been created as a weapon, she didn't like to kill.
But then… why had she convinced herself that this was her fate? Why did she think that killing was the only thing she was good at? That, as a weapon, her purpose was to end lives? Had she ever even stopped to consider what she wanted?
No. She had simply accepted that as the truth. Her creator never told her what her real purpose was or what she had been made for. Maybe that was what shaped her into what she was now—a killer, devoid of compassion or feeling.
{Note: ehem, in this fic, Yami's past is more complicated and different than in the original manga. I think you'll be surprise when I tell you her past in a future.}
"Suffering... I... suffering..." – Yami said.
Then he fell to his knees clutching her head and tears began to fall from her eyes.
Why had she become an assassin? Why had she killed so many people? Why was she so angry at her creator if she had never actually told her that this was the purpose for which she was made? Why had she been so upset when she learned she had been created rather than born like any other living being in the galaxy? Why had it hurt so much to discover she had been designed to be a weapon?
Yami began to question every action she had taken in her life since she chose the path of an assassin.
Watching her cry while kneeling, I felt a deep sadness swell in my chest. I hadn't said anything special, just what I had always felt when reading the manga. She had never admitted it outright, but from the way she behaved after meeting Yuuki Rito and leaving behind her life as an assassin, I had always assumed that she never truly wanted that path.
As for the suffering… I had said it on impulse. I never imagined those words would provoke such a reaction in her.
"Yami..." – I said embarrassed.
I slowly approached her as I return to my human form. Ten, I bent down and used my hand to lift her face that lay stained by her tears.
"Why are you crying?" – I asked in a sad tone.
"Because you were right! Ok? I didn't want to be an assassin, I was so lonely, I was lonely...!" - she tried to say.
But I just hugged her.
I don't know if the Yami in the manga had the same thoughts as this Yami, but the sweet girl who lies in my hug crying is a girl who is really suffering.
"You don't need to say anything. If you want, you can come with me and leave everything behind, just like that" – I said while hugging her.
"But do I deserve it? After everything I did?" – Yami asked.
Since she became an assassin, she had killed dozens of people, perhaps hundreds. Some deserved it, and others simply offended the wrong person. How could someone like her with her hands covered in blood suddenly change her life?
"It's not a question of whether you deserve it or not, that doesn't matter. It's a matter of whether you want to do it or not" – I said.
It doesn't matter that he has murdered so many people, what is done is done and she can no longer go back to the past (although I could do it with the Omnitrix), but there are things that are better left as they are and not interfere in them.
"I want to..." – Yami said.
There were assassins who liked to kill, but she hated it, she just didn't realize it until now.
"Then stay by my side, I will protect you from all evil" – I said with a smile.
Yami was shocked and stared at me.
"Do you say that to all the girls?" – Yami asked.
Now that she saw him up close, Akira seemed quite handsome to her.
"Only the ones I like" – I said with a smile.
"Perverted" – Yami said.
But this time she said it with a glowing smile, in fact, she even blinded me for a few moments.
"Well, now that everything is cleared up, let's go" – I said as I stood up next to Yami.
"Where?" – I asked.
"To my house, you will live with me, Lala and Peke from now on" – I said.
"No, I don't want to be a nuisance" – Yami said.
After recovering, she returned to her initial stoic expression. It seems like that's her personality and changing it isn't something I should try. Whether she wants to change or not is up to her and not me.
"It's not a nuisance" – I said.
Yami weighed it, but... Living under the same roof as a man? It's not that she didn't like Akire or something like that, it's just that her shyness prevented her from doing so.
"Thank you very much, but I already have my own house!" – Yami exclaimed.
But she blushed a little when hse said that, so as soon as she said it, she flew away.
"See you soon!" – Yami said.
"Ok, but stay on Earth! You know where to find me, so visit me often!" – I said.
Yami didn't say anything, but inside she was happy. How long has it been since you felt that way? How could that human influence her in that way when no one could do it until now? Not even her own creator was able to influence her so much, and yet, in a few minutes, that human, no, Akira, made her leave her job as an assassin and stay to live on Earth.
"Should I have accepted his proposal?" – Yami wondered.
But she quickly got rid of that thought. She thanked Akira for what he had done for her, but living under the same roof as a man embarrassed her. It's not that Yami hated men or Akira, but that she had never had such intimate contact with a man and all that was new to her. The hug she received from Akira was already her limit and now that she remembered it, she was more and more ashamed.
Meanwhile with Akira.
"What a stubborn girl. Well, at least I've made her change her mind and maybe, this Monday, I'll get a surprise" – I smiled.
I have already sown the seed in Yami, now it is only a matter of time before it germinates. All that remains is to wait patiently and little by little, it will blossom.
"Based on what happened in the original story, it is possible that Yami will transfer to the school this Monday. Although since this is a different timeline... It may not be so. Or maybe it is" – I said to myself.
Now that I think about it. Shouldn't Saki have appeared already? I seem to remember that she appears even before Yami's arrival, however, in this timeline Yami has appeared and Saki has not. It is also true that Lala has only been in school for half a week and that Yami appeared much earlier than in the original timeline. Maybe she will appear soon.
"Anyway, with this, the week can be over, I'm going home" – I sighed.
After what happened with Yami, I doubt that there will be any more incidents, at least during this weekend.
…
At home
After arriving home and telling Lala what happened, she was quite worried about it, but what surprised her the most (after checking my entire body in search of wounds), was the name of the person who attacked me.
"A blonde girl dressed in black? Was that the girl who attacked you?" – Lala asked confused.
"Yes, although I call her Yami. Why, is something wrong? I know she's an assassin, but she's promised me to stop being one and I'm sure she'll keep her word" – I said.
In another world, perhaps this would have sounded like the fantasies of a teenager who doesn't know the world yet, but in this case, I'm sure Yami will no longer be an assassin, just call it male intuition.
"It must be Konjiki no Yami, Lala-sama" – Peke said.
"Yes, it must be her" – Lala nodded.
"Yes, that's what he said her name was. Is there a problem or something?" – I asked again.
"Akira-sama, Konjiki no Yami or as you call her now, Yami, is one of the most powerful beings in the entire galaxy, as well as an exceptional and cold-hearted assassin who never hesitates to kill her victims" - Peke explained.
I know, but not listening to it would be weird.
"According to what you have told me, you beat her and then she promised to leave her job as a professional assassin. Am I wrong?" – Lala asked.
"It's a very brief summary... but yes, that's right" – I nodded.
I actually told her the whole story, from when I gave her a Taiyaki to when I hugged her when she was kneeling on the floor, crying inconsolably.
"My fiancé is the best, he was even able to conquer the famous Konjiki no Yami, no... Yami!" – Lala exclaimed with joy.
Lala was delighted and almost seemed to jump for joy.
"Is it so surprising?" – I asked Peke.
"Akira-sama is a human oblivious to everything that happens in the galaxy (for now), but for those who know, we know that Yami is definitely someone impossible to convince. Yami is not only famous for her strength as an assassin, but because she fulfills each and every one of her jobs, without exception... at least until today. That's why what you've done is impressive" - Peke explained.
Well, I hadn't thought about it carefully, but... now that Peke has said it, it may be incredible.
"And not only that. As a future heir, you have enough authority to forgive all her crimes" - Peke said.
"Right, I forget that Yami is technically a wanted criminal!" – I exclaimed.
I hadn't realized it until now, Yami is an assassin, which means she's wanted by the Galactic Authorities. She's been accused of dozens of murders, and even of attempting to assassinate the heir to the King of the Galaxy. This is serious.
In the manga, since it was mostly comedy and ecchi, no one ever really brought up the gravity of her crimes. But this… this is real life. And I'm afraid things aren't as simple as just deciding to stop being a killer and magically being free of all charges.
There are serious legal consequences at play here.
"Don't worry, Akira-sama. As I have already said, as heir, you have sufficient authority to absolve Yami of all crimes committed, but always under certain conditions" - Peke said.
"Conditions, what kind of conditions?" – I asked curiously.
