Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Phoenix, Chaos Ancient Dragon

"What a clever child," the gray-clothed Soul Master praised as he approached, intending to pat Yun Ze's head, but Yun Ze dodged.

Seeing his action avoided, the gray-clothed man gave an awkward smile and pointed to a metal device near the edge of the wall.

"Inject your soul power into this to test your innate soul power."

Yun Ze followed the instruction. Despite just awakening, he could already control his soul power effortlessly, able to release and retract it at will.

As his soul power flowed in, the numbers on the device's display rapidly changed. One, two, three… the digits quickly reached ten.

Seeing this, the gray-clothed Soul Master was delighted. His guess had been correct—this child was indeed born with full innate soul power.

Just as he was about to stop the test, his pupils suddenly contracted. To his shock, the number jumped from ten to eleven.

Then twelve, thirteen… The digits kept increasing, and with each rise, his heart pounded as if being struck.

His mouth gaped open in astonishment, his heartbeat racing, his expression one of sheer disbelief.

"Level twenty?" The Soul Master's voice was stiff as he rubbed his eyes, fearing he was hallucinating.

After confirming the number was indeed twenty, the gray-clothed Soul Master stood frozen, completely stunned.

Yun Ze withdrew his hand from the device, feeling indifferent about having an innate soul power of level twenty.

Looking at the stunned Soul Master, he asked, "Uncle, does this mean I need to obtain a soul spirit now?"

Over the years, he had read many books about Soul Masters and had already grasped the rules of this world.

Levels ten, twenty, and thirty required obtaining soul rings to break through.

In the past, one would obtain soul rings directly, but now, they were referred to as soul spirits.

"Uh… Yes… No…" The gray-clothed Soul Master snapped out of his daze, nodding and then shaking his head before hurriedly saying,

"Little friend, stay here for a while. I need to step out for a moment and will be back soon. Remember, do not leave!"

With that, the Soul Master rushed out in a hurry, leaving Yun Ze alone in the awakening room.

Yun Ze shook his head slightly, having no intention of leaving. He raised his left hand, and a dark gray mist emerged from his palm, condensing into the shape of a dragon.

The small dragon was only as long as a finger, extremely miniature, yet its entire body exuded an air of majesty and dominance, as if it looked down upon the world. Chaos energy swirled around it.

The moment it appeared, the gravity in the room seemed to increase several times over. The air thickened, making it feel like wading through a swamp.

Seeing this dragon-shaped phantom, Yun Ze smiled in satisfaction. As expected, it was the Chaos Ancient Dragon.

Of course, this was not a real Chaos Ancient Dragon. Like his Phoenix Martial Soul, it was a manifestation of his bloodline.

The reason he was pleased was that it proved one thing—the Ancient Dragon Life Pearl he had fused with had taken effect.

As long as it worked, then the price he had paid was worth it.

After staring at the Chaos Ancient Dragon for a while, he withdrew it and patiently waited for the gray-clothed Soul Master to return.

Half an hour later, Yun Ze removed the helmet used to test spiritual power.

Standing before him were the gray-clothed Soul Master who had helped him awaken his Martial Soul and an elderly man dressed in black.

The black-clothed elder was short and slightly plump. His face was wrinkled, his hair completely white, yet he was full of vigor, showing no signs of frailty.

Both men stared at the test results on the instrument, their eyes wide in disbelief as they exclaimed in unison,

"One hundred eighty-two?"

One hundred eighty-two—Spirit Connection Realm spiritual power!

"Hall Master, could there be something wrong with this device?" The gray-clothed Soul Master swallowed hard, his face filled with shock.

In the Spirit Pagoda, the leaders of regional branches were generally addressed as 'Hall Master,' while only the leader at the headquarters was called 'Pagoda Master.'

The Hall Master gave him a look as if he were an idiot. "If anything is wrong, it's with you. This device is flawless."

The gray-clothed Soul Master gave a sheepish smile and said, "But this child's spiritual power is simply terrifying…"

The Hall Master ignored him and turned to Yun Ze, his expression suddenly warm and kind.

"Little friend, you should reconsider. Our Spirit Pagoda is one of the most powerful forces on the continent."

"Joining us would be nothing but beneficial to you. The Spirit Pagoda would prioritize all resources for you."

"I can even promise that you will become a top figure in the Spirit Pagoda in the future—perhaps even the Pagoda Master."

"You must understand, the Spirit Pagoda Master is an individual who can command the winds and clouds of the continent. Imagine how prestigious you would be if you became the Pagoda Master!"

Innate level twenty soul power and a six-year-old with one hundred eighty-two points of spiritual power—such monstrous talent was beyond extraordinary. They had to recruit him at all costs.

However, Yun Ze shook his head, completely ignoring the Hall Master's attempts at persuasion.

"Uncle, there's no need to waste your breath on me. No matter what you say, it won't change my mind. Now that my spiritual power has been tested, can we proceed with selecting a soul spirit?"

Seeing how resolute Yun Ze was, the Hall Master looked disappointed but did not press further.

"Since that's the case, I won't say any more."

"Follow me," he said and led the way out of the room.

Technically, he didn't need to escort Yun Ze personally, but he did so in an attempt to build rapport with him.

Yun Ze followed the Hall Master to another room.

It was worth noting that they were not on the first floor but on the tenth floor of the Spirit Pagoda.

The room spanned nearly two hundred square meters, with large metal devices lining the walls. Inside glass covers, golden and purple energy spheres floated.

"Your spiritual power has reached one hundred eighty-two, meaning you can theoretically absorb both century-old and millennium-old soul spirits."

"But my advice is to choose a century-old soul spirit. The energy of a millennium-old soul spirit is too intense, and your body may not be able to withstand it."

Absorbing a soul spirit was not just about spiritual power—it also depended on whether the Soul Master's body could endure the energy.

The Hall Master spoke while leading Yun Ze to one of the devices containing century-old soul spirits. There were over a hundred inside.

Yun Ze curiously observed the yellow energy spheres within the glass enclosure.

The spheres varied in size—some nearly half a meter in diameter, while others were only as big as a watermelon. Inside, faint silhouettes of soul beasts could be seen.

Clearly, these projections had been scaled down. Otherwise, certain soul beasts would be far too large to fit within.

"Feel free to choose. Since we get along so well, I'll make the decision—whichever one you pick, it's free of charge!"

"If you're unsure, I can help you choose the best and most suitable one," the Hall Master generously offered.

"Thank you for your kindness, Uncle, but I have some money and can afford to purchase one myself," Yun Ze politely declined.

The Hall Master gave Yun Ze a deep look.

It seemed this child's background was not simple.

A century-old soul spirit was expensive, starting at one million Federal Coins. High-quality ones could even approach ten million.

The fact that this child could afford one meant he had at least a million on him.
