Chapter 258: The End of a Legend

Tang Chen lay on the ground, his gaze blank and bewildered. In just a moment, what had been a seemingly even battle had turned into a one sided rout. Qianqian raised her Angelic Sword high, ready to end Tang Chen's long, sin stained life with a final blow. Yet, Ye Wen held her back.

"Hold on, Qianqian," Ye Wen instructed. "I'd like to speak with this senior one last time."

"Yes," Qianqian replied, withdrawing her power. The domain she had maintained collapsed, and the three of them returned to the physical realm.

Tang Chen, now back under the familiar sky, took a deep breath. Having endured years of possession by the Blood Red Nine Headed Bat King, he found he had lost any fear of death. He looked at Ye Wen and managed a wry smile.

"Kid, what's this? You stopped the girl from finishing me off. Do you intend to mock me further?"

Ye Wen shook his head and stepped closer. "I have no interest in such amusements. I only wanted to ask was it worth it? With your power, you could have enjoyed centuries of life, perhaps even built the HaoTian Empire in place of the sect. So, Senior Tang Chen, do you regret it?"

Lying on the ground, Tang Chen's face grew pensive as he reflected on his life. "Worth it or not, who can say? But I spent my life in pursuit of power, so I'd say I don't regret it. Do it, kid. I have no regrets."

With those words, he closed his eyes, feeling a strange peace. In his mind, he saw the image of a woman he had loved. "Bo Saixi, I'm sorry...I couldn't keep my promise to you."

Ye Wen quietly recorded Tang Chen's words using a soul device, finding they might prove useful later. Then he nodded to Qianqian. "Go ahead."

Qianqian hesitated not a moment longer, driving her sword into Tang Chen's forehead. Thus ended the life of a legendary figure.

From the Divine Realm, the God of Shura witnessed this and silently fumed. "Sea God Ye Wen I'll remember you."

The Shura God then turned his focus back to Qianqian's enclosed domain ability, which intrigued him greatly. "A remarkable talent indeed. No wonder Poseidon favors her. But...she let me see it, so I'll take it for myself."

The Shura God remained confident. Newly ascended gods typically only reached the peak of the second tier, so he felt no fear about Ye Wen becoming an obstacle. As the Shura God saw it, no Sea God or Angel could compete with him in combat prowess. Now, all he had to do was prepare Tang San for the role.

As the Shura God plotted, he suddenly witnessed an action from Qianqian that infuriated him. She picked up the Shura Demonic Sword and offered it to Ye Wen.

"Master," she said, holding it out respectfully.

Ye Wen accepted the blade, examining it with a curious glint in his eyes. Despite the imposing title "demonic sword," it was more an art piece than a mere weapon. With its crimson blade adorned with intricate patterns of black and gold, it exuded an aura of mystery and majesty. As Ye Wen inspected it with his divine senses, he noted the difference in quality compared to his own Sea God's Trident. This was merely a replica, after all, forged by Tang Chen with guidance from the Shura God, yet lacking in refinement and imbued power.

As Ye Wen prepared to stow the sword for further study, a massive surge of divine power erupted from it, forcing him back several meters. Instantly, Qianqian, who had been resting, sprang to her feet in a defensive stance alongside Ye Wen.

High above, an immense force surged down from the heavens, shattering the protective Liuhe Sealing Barrier as if it were nothing. The Shura Demonic Sword hovered in mid air, surrounded by a towering projection of the Shura God himself.

Ye Wen narrowed his gaze. "What do you want, Shura God?"

The Shura God's projection opened its eyes, locking onto Ye Wen. "You seem well informed, new Sea God. But isn't it a bit much to try and claim my divine weapon?"

Understanding the rules of the Divine Realm, Ye Wen replied coolly. "The Divine Realm has decreed that no gods may interfere in the affairs of the Douluo Star. Surely, as an enforcer god, you wouldn't violate such a law, Shura God?"

The Shura God's brow twitched. He had hoped Ye Wen wouldn't bring that up, but with so many divine eyes now on his actions, he restrained himself.

"Do not preach the rules to me, junior. I did not lay a hand on you. However, my Shura Demonic Sword is tied to my godly legacy. I can't allow you to take it for yourself. I intend to pass it on to my next inheritor. Now, I'll be taking back my sword any objections, Sea God?"

Ignoring the Shura God's workaround, Ye Wen was suddenly struck by an idea.

With a sly grin, he said, "Of course, Shura God. I misunderstood. If you're intent on finding a successor for your godly position, perhaps I could recommend someone?"

"Oh?"
