Chapter 81 - The Test of God

"Hold on just a bit longer, my love~ I'll definitely save you," I said, cradling Enis as I ascended the spiral staircase. Along the way, I saw various divine beasts and immortals passing by in the heavens. They merely smiled gently at me without interfering."Reporting to the Divine Lord, as you predicted, the master of that energy is gradually approaching this place," the divine officer said respectfully. "No rush. This is a destined matter. The seed from the Nether Cosmos still needs careful nurturing," Ao Tian replied slowly.I passed through countless layers of heaven, continuing to ascend with all my effort. The heavens were so vast, their peaks out of sight, and I had no idea where I was. At that moment, a fairy flew by, and I called out to her, "Excuse me! Could you tell me which layer of heaven this is?" I asked. "This is the 56th Heaven. You don't seem to be from the Divine Realm. May I ask why you've come here?" the fairy inquired. "I'm terribly sorry. My wife's soul has dissipated, and I heard that the Divine Lord Ao Tian can save her. I've come to seek the Divine Lord's help to save my beloved wife," I explained."I see," the fairy said, glancing at Enis in my arms. "She is indeed an elegant and beautiful woman. However, the Divine Lord does not easily meet mortals. Do you see that mountain range over there? The Star River Waterfall flowing from the Upper Realm is a shortcut to the higher heavens. Fly along that waterfall," the fairy kindly directed. "Thank you so much! I'll take my leave now," I said, thanking her before flying toward the waterfall. With each layer of heaven I ascended, my body and mind felt more joyful and energized. The higher I went, the stronger the sacred energy became. After much effort, I reached another layer of heaven. As soon as I stepped into it, two mysterious figures appeared before me. "This is the 80th Heaven. The Divine Lord already knows why you've come and has sent us to guide you. I am Sati Tian, the divine officer in charge of this layer," one of them said. (This Divine Lord Ao Tian is truly all-knowing, aware of my arrival!) I thought to myself. "I'm sorry, as you can see, my wife's soul was damaged while protecting me. I've come to seek the Divine Lord Ao Tian's aid. I hope you two esteemed divine officers can grant me the favor of meeting the Divine Lord," I pleaded, bowing deeply."No, we are not here to obstruct you. We've come to convey the Divine Lord's will. To revive your wife, you must collect all the fragments of her shattered soul. Leave her body with us for safekeeping, and return to the place where she fell to gather her soul fragments. Take this soul detector," the divine officer said, handing me an object resembling a magnifying glass. The mirror was intricately carved with divine patterns, and its lens was purple. I hesitated to entrust Enis's body to them, still uncertain. Sensing my concern, the divine officer reassured me, "You need not worry. This is the sacred land of the Divine Realm. Placing your wife here ensures her safety. Carrying her body while you travel could lead to trouble." With that, the divine officer conjured a crystal coffin. "Place her body inside. We will take it to the 81st Heaven for safekeeping, allowing you to focus on collecting the soul fragments." After some thought, I agreed. Gently, I placed Enis into the crystal coffin. The divine officers sealed the lid and departed with it."He said I need to return to the Demon Realm to collect Enis's soul fragments, but how do I get back?" I wondered, feeling troubled. Then it hit me—I could return to the 8th Heaven and find that boy to guide me back. No time to waste! I hurriedly flew back down the original path toward the lower realms.
