Night Raid members, with the exception of the newly joined Chelsea, all reacted the same way: eyes wide, mouths agape, suddenly standing up and slamming the table, shouting in disbelief:

"How is this possible!?" ×6

The fact that the Revolutionary Army was annihilated was already incredibly hard to believe; they had spent a considerable amount of time digesting that news.

But to say the Revolutionary Army was annihilated by one person? How could that be possible!?

Looking around at her subordinates, Najenda sighed helplessly:

"What I said is the truth. This matter was personally experienced by the Revolutionary Army's former general, and also by me."

The meeting room fell into a deathly silence again. Several Night Raid members slumped weakly back into their seats one after another.

After a long silence, Akame finally spoke. She asked Najenda:

"Then, boss, who exactly was it that annihilated the Revolutionary Army? Was it Esdeath?"

Najenda shook her head:

"No… it wasn't. It was a man who suddenly appeared, someone we'd never heard of before. His name is Uchiha Madara…"

"Uchiha Madara?"

The Night Raid members mumbled the name. Aside from the faint, discernible aura embedded within the name, they truly had no impression of him whatsoever.

"Boss, what exactly happened?"

Najenda sighed helplessly once more. She looked around at her subordinates and recounted the entire story in detail.

This recounting took a full half-hour.

In that half-hour, the Night Raid members also understood the full story.

However, precisely because they understood the full story, the shock in the hearts of these Night Raid members did not lessen; instead, it increased even more because they knew the truth.

Bulat sat upright in his chair, furrowing his brows, and mused:

"To enter an army of a million as if entering an uninhabited land!? To take the life of the Revolutionary Army's leader amidst a million troops!? This kind of martial skill is simply unheard of in the world. At the very least, I cannot reach that level."

What Bulat focused on was the terrifying martial skill Uchiha Madara displayed, which had a hint of familiarity with his personality.

Leone irritably grabbed her long golden hair, muttering:

"To instantly create a large forest!? And for a forest riot to instantly annihilate the Revolutionary Army!? What kind of Imperial Arm is that exactly? It's too overbearing, isn't it? If used on a frontal battlefield, wouldn't it be invincible!?"

What Leone focused on was Uchiha Madara's Wood Release ability, which could decimate a million. In her eyes, this ability was terrifying.

Akame clearly had different thoughts:

"A gray-purple energy attack that can instantly crush several incredibly powerful people!? And even corrode and destroy an Imperial Arm!? That's too impossible, isn't it? Since ancient times, has any Imperial Arm ever been destroyed like that?"

Perhaps it was innate intuition, but Akame felt that Uchiha Madara's destructive move was the most terrifying.

Mine suddenly stood up, slamming her hand on the table with a thud. She almost gnashed her teeth, brandishing her claws as she shouted:

"Hey! You guys are focusing on the wrong things, aren't you!? Shouldn't you be focusing on the Revolutionary Army!? I really didn't expect that the Revolutionary Army's higher-ups would actually be a bunch of hypocritical villains! The internal situation of the Revolutionary Army is actually so corrupt, it's practically no better than the Empire! Why on earth did we sacrifice our lives for the Revolutionary Army before!?"

Mine's outburst left everyone present speechless. After all, what she said was a bloody truth.

It wasn't just Mine who felt disheartened; the other Night Raid members were also somewhat remorseful.

Amidst this strange atmosphere, Night Raid leader Najenda made a move.

She stood up, her face stern:

"I was the one who joined the Revolutionary Army back then, and I was also the one who recruited all of you into Night Raid to serve the Revolutionary Army back then. I never saw the Revolutionary Army's true face; it was my poor judgment of character that led to this situation, and I am partly to blame. Here, I apologize to everyone!"

After speaking, Najenda bowed ninety degrees from the bottom of her heart, with utmost respect.

This instantly flustered all the Night Raid members.

They had never experienced their usually composed boss adopting such a humble apologizing posture. They immediately rushed over, flustered and bustling, to comfort her, speaking all at once:

"Boss! How can this be your fault!? If anyone's to blame… it can only be the Revolutionary Army's higher-ups for hiding too well!"

"That's right, that's right! We joined under you, boss, because we were moved by your ideal of punishing evil and promoting good!"

"Yeah, what is the Revolutionary Army? We had no idea!"

"That's truly the case. Although we are nominally affiliated with the Revolutionary Army, for such a long time, the Revolutionary Army has kept us stationed here, isolated. Apart from boss and Chelsea, we Night Raid people have never had any contact with the Revolutionary Army!"

Under the comfort of everyone speaking at once, Najenda finally stood up. At the same time, subtly, the relationship between Night Raid and the Revolutionary Army was severed, making the corruption of the Revolutionary Army feel less weighty in the hearts of the Night Raid members.

Truly, Najenda lives up to her name. An apology that took all the responsibility not only allowed her to bear her own responsibility but also helped everyone emerge from the shadow of the Revolutionary Army.

After a moment of commotion, the Night Raid members helped Najenda back into her leader's seat.

Everyone sat down again, and the meeting continued.

This time, the Night Raid members suddenly noticed that the atmosphere was no longer as heavy as before; everyone had actually become calm and composed.

Laughing amongst themselves, everyone began discussing the next problem.

It was still Night Raid leader Najenda who spoke:

"Since the Revolutionary Army has been annihilated, and since we have already recognized the true face of the Revolutionary Army, then from now on, Night Raid will be an independent assassin organization, with no further ties to the Revolutionary Army!"

The Night Raid members nodded together, indicating their approval.

"Since we've severed ties, then the next question arises: before, no matter what the Revolutionary Army was like, a large part of Night Raid's military expenses and supplies were provided by the Revolutionary Army. Now that the Revolutionary Army has been annihilated, what will we do about Night Raid's military expenses and supplies?"
