Chapter 353: The Silent Death of the Devilkiller Whale King
Early the next morning, when Han Li stepped out of his room, he noticed that the person standing guard outside had changed. Instead of the usual maid, Xixi, it was now the Devil Soul Great White Shark, Xiao Bai.
When she saw Han Li emerge, she instinctively shrank back a little. The battle a few days ago had left a deep impression on her, and she still had a lingering fear of him.
Her imagination and sense of immersion were running wild she did not want to be grabbed and slammed into the sea, nor did she want to be used as a shield. After all, her body was far more durable than the former High Priest, Bo Saixi.
"So early?" Han Li walked to the center of the courtyard, eating the specialty fish porridge she had brought, and casually asked.
"Lady Ye LingLing is already training by crossing the Sea God's Light. She instructed me to take you directly to the shore afterward," Xiao Bai responded respectfully. In her eyes, Han Li was a terrifying overlord. Soul beasts naturally submitted to the strong.
"What about my master uncle?" Han Li asked as he savored the tender fish in his porridge.
"The former High P Xixi went to wake him," Xiao Bai corrected herself mid sentence, almost slipping up out of habit. The sudden change in everyone's status was still something she was adjusting to.
"Oh?" Han Li's eyes lit up. LingLing truly understands me.
He was completely unaware that Ye LingLing had arranged this specifically to keep him away from Bo Saixi. After all, Bo Saixi was undeniably beautiful, while Xiao Bai... well, she was still a soul beast.
Using his spiritual power, Han Li scanned the neighboring room, only to find that there was no interaction between the two inside.
They were behaving as formally as two Qian Daoliu's. In fact, Qian Daoliu himself looked even more restrained than Bo Saixi. As for Bo Saixi, she was recovering, but only slightly. Han Li had no interest in her she was just a discarded pawn.
If the Sea God hadn't intervened, she would already be dead.
Disappointed at not witnessing anything interesting, Han Li sped up his meal.
After finishing breakfast, he fetched his visibly uncomfortable master uncle, and with Xiao Bai leading the way, they headed toward the shore. By the time they arrived, Ye LingLing was already waiting. Her aura was still slightly unstable, clearly indicating she had just finished training.
"You don't need to push yourself so hard. Your progress is probably the fastest among everyone," Han Li commented.
"I still need to master the trident techniques, so I have to work even harder. With my martial soul and the Sea God's Light protecting me, it won't be a burden," Ye LingLing replied, uncharacteristically firm in her stance. She needed to improve her combat ability she refused to be a burden.
Seeing the determination on her face, Han Li knew there was no point in arguing. She did have the best conditions, after all.
"Fine, do what you think is best," he relented, then turned to Xiao Bai. "Lead the way."
Although they could fly directly, riding a shark was a rare experience. Now that he was here, it would be a shame not to try it.
"Understood!"
Surprisingly, Xiao Bai looked genuinely excited rather than reluctant. She would be carrying the future Sea God and assisting in the hunt for her species' greatest enemy. This was a moment of honor. Even though her faith in the former Sea God had wavered, she didn't mind playing the role of a mount again. Ye LingLing's gentle personality also made her easier to serve.
With a powerful dive, Xiao Bai transformed into her true form. Her massive body surfaced, waiting for the trio to board. Han Li and the others wasted no time, landing smoothly on her broad back.
With a flick of her tail, she sliced through the water, swiftly leaving Sea God Island behind.
Riding a shark was indeed a novel experience. Xiao Bai was incredibly fast yet surprisingly stable. As Han Li sat cross legged on her back, he watched the waves roll past and felt the cool sea breeze a truly refreshing sensation. He patted her firm, springy skin. It felt sturdy… he wondered if it was good to eat.
Below him, Xiao Bai suddenly felt a chill run down her spine. She glanced around warily but saw nothing out of the ordinary.
"By the way, Xiao Bai, LingLing already told you, right? We're only targeting the Devilkiller Whale King this time," Han Li said while testing the elasticity of her skin.
"Yes, Lord Han Li, Lady Ye LingLing has already informed me," Xiao Bai responded from beneath the water, her voice crisp and clear, still carrying a trace of excitement.
As long as the Devilkiller Whale King was eliminated, the rest of the Devilkiller Whales could be driven out of this territory. This would be a great victory for the Devil Soul Great White Shark clan.
"Once this mission is over, I will lift Xiao Bai's punishment," Ye LingLing added. Sea God Island's main combat forces relied on the Seven Sacred Pillars and Xiao Bai. Since she still had to focus on her divine trial, she didn't mind granting Xiao Bai some grace.
The Sea God had likely intended for this to happen. Otherwise, he wouldn't have left the authority to lift the punishments in Ye LingLing's hands.
"Thank you, my lady!" Xiao Bai's voice was filled with joy, and she swam even faster, her tail thrashing powerfully.
Han Li, Ye LingLing, and Qian Daoliu exchanged smiles. It had all been planned in advance once Ye LingLing successfully challenged the Seven Sacred Pillars, she would also lift their punishments.
Without the burden of its tribe, Xiao Bai's speed was unmatched, and soon, it carried the three of them into the territory of the Devilkiller Whales.
Unlike before, this time, Xiao Bai was extremely arrogant, brazenly releasing its aura without restraint.
Through water flow, using the communication method of soul beasts, it provocatively taunted all the creatures in the area using some rather foul language.
It had wanted to do this for a long time but had never dared to. Overall, its species was not as strong as the enemy's, but this time, it had no reason to hold back.
With the Sea God's successor, a powerhouse no weaker than the previous High Priest, and an overwhelming demon lord who could crush that same High Priest, how could it not flaunt its presence after all the suffering it had endured?
Before this, even with the protection of Sea God Island, the former High Priest had strictly forbidden the Seven Sacred Pillars from interfering.
At best, the Devil Soul Great White Shark clan had a safe haven, but beyond the island's range, they remained at a disadvantage. Xiao Bai never understood why the High Priest refused to help them.
Weren't they supposed to be the Sea God's mount? But it had never dared to question it and could only endure, at least grateful for the safety zone they had been granted.
Now, although Lady Ye LingLing and the Demon Lord were only intervening because of the divine trial and had clearly stated they would only kill the strongest Devilkiller Whale King, taking out its leader would give Xiao Bai's species the upper hand, making survival far easier.
For Xiao Bai, this was an unimaginable fortune.
Standing on Xiao Bai's back, Han Li suddenly paused in surprise. Just now, he had received a pure strand of faith energy from the Devil Soul Great White Shark.
Is this just a matter of choosing the lesser evil? Was Poseidon's oppression really this extreme? Han Li found it amusing.
"LingLing, are you ready?" Han Li turned to Ye LingLing, who looked slightly confused.
"Hmm?" Ye LingLing blinked, then pointed at herself in surprise. "Me?"
"Yes, you. I'll apply Evil God's Protection to you for half an hour, giving you time to practice your trident techniques. What do you think?"
With his recent power growth, Han Li could now extend what was once a self only soul skill to others. Though there were stronger defensive methods, this was sufficient for Ye LingLing's current battle.
"Alright!" Ye LingLing nodded excitedly. She wasn't very confident after all, in their sparring sessions, she and Zhu Zhuqing were often at the bottom. But with Evil God's Protection, she felt capable. This would be good preparation for future challenges.
Their conversation was fully audible to Xiao Bai below, who swam even faster, heading straight for the enemy's lair.
If Lady Ye LingLing or the Demon Lord accidentally kills a few Devilkiller Whales in battle, that's normal, right? Xiao Bai thought to itself. It was also curious about what exactly Evil God's Protection was.
Thanks to Xiao Bai's speed, they arrived before the Devilkiller Whale pod had fully reacted, catching sight of their king before being surrounded.
Unlike Devil Soul Great White Sharks, the Devilkiller Whale King was pitch black, significantly larger, exuding an immense sense of power. Its aura of savagery far surpassed Xiao Bai's.
The moment it saw Han Li, the Devilkiller Whale King instinctively tried to flee. It was aware of the Sea God's recent decree, notifying sea soul beasts of the shift in divine faith. While it itself did not worship the Sea God, many of its tribe members did.
Most sea soul beasts only gained the ability to choose their faith freely after reaching ten thousand years of cultivation. Before that, they simply followed their instincts.
In this regard, compared to the Angel God, the Sea God's control was far more absolute.
But when the Devilkiller Whale King noticed the Sea God's trident mark on Ye LingLing's forehead, it suddenly stopped and dispersed its subordinates. As one of the ocean's rulers, it was not ignorant.
Thirty minutes later, it was dead.
Its massive, dark corpse floated on the sea, while Xiao Bai trembled with the urge to take a bite but dared not move.
The Devilkiller Whale King, stronger than Xiao Bai, had died in the most humiliating way possible. For half an hour, Ye LingLing, protected by Evil God's Protection, had relentlessly struck it, yet failed to break its defense.
Meanwhile, Han Li continuously provided guidance, instructing her to integrate previous lessons with her trident techniques into a cohesive combat style.
For a ruler like the Devilkiller Whale King, being reduced to a mere training dummy was an unbearable disgrace.
When the gray energy surrounding Ye LingLing finally dissipated, the Devilkiller Whale King prepared to self destruct in a desperate last act. Unfortunately, before it could, a two toned arrow from the Demon Lord pierced its head, killing it instantly before it could even scream.
Too tragic… I better not move either, Xiao Bai thought, afraid Han Li might decide to stab it with one of those arrows just for fun.
"What a waste. We lost a good soul ring," Han Li sighed, extracting a piece of whale gelatin and a left leg bone.
His target for a soul ring was elsewhere. Shui Bing'er was undergoing her divine trial, and the others wouldn't be able to handle it, so he had no choice but to let it go.
Casually freezing the Devilkiller Whale King's corpse for preservation, Han Li lightly stomped his foot and said, "Xiao Bai, its corpse is yours. Drag it back on the way home."
"Now, let's go find the Deep Sea Demon Whale King."
