Chapter 327: Is This Teaching or Dual Cultivation?
Heaven Dou City, Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's residence.
Han Li's figure emerged from midair, the space around him rippling slightly. As expected, outside of areas reinforced by his own rules, space was much easier for him to manipulate. If spatial rules were already this responsive, then his control over ice and fire should be even stronger.
Under the widened eyes of the other three members of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Han Li released Ning Fengzhi from his wristband. With a nod towards them, Han Li's figure once again disappeared into the space ripples.
"He was gone for just half a day, but he seems even stronger now," Gu Rong muttered in a daze, unsure of how to comprehend what he had just witnessed.
"You couldn't beat him before anyway. I just want to fight him at least once," Chen Xin responded, glancing at his old friend before his tone suddenly shifted, eyes flashing with intense battle spirit.
"Maybe in the near future, that won't even be something worth considering. Defeating Dugu Bo might be a more realistic goal," Gu Rong mused, recalling that back during the Soul Master Tournament, that guy had already reached Rank 96.
The fighting intent in Chen Xin's eyes instantly vanished, and his expression froze. Now that he thought about it… it wasn't entirely impossible.
Just then, they heard Ning Fengzhi's excited voice: "Rongrong, Sword Uncle, Bone Uncle, come take a look at my martial soul…"
On the other side, Han Li didn't immediately return to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Instead, he made a quick stop at his residence after all, he had initially said he'd be gone for just half a day, but now it would likely take a day or two.
Might as well wait for the Blue Silver Emperor to reach 100,000 years it wouldn't be a waste of time.
And while he was at it, he packed some food.
Yes, since his body hadn't fully transformed into a divine physique yet, he still needed to eat. He wouldn't starve if he didn't, but the sensation was definitely unpleasant.
After confirming that those undergoing their divine trials still hadn't made significant progress, Han Li finally returned to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. This time, however, he directly appeared within Gu Yue's recuperation space.
During his absence, Gu Yue had already restructured the layout of her domain.
The faith energy and celestial spirit energy Han Li had funneled into it were now sealed within a designated area, which externally manifested as a Lake of Life similar to the one in the Star Dou Forest though its energy had changed.
How much do you like lakes? Han Li almost wanted to ask. But it was her space, and it did look quite aesthetically pleasing, so he decided against it.
"You're here."
Gu Yue was still making adjustments to the surroundings. When she noticed him enter, she didn't turn around.
"Yeah, I'm here."
Han Li stood to the side, watching her work, making no effort to assist simply waiting for her to finish.
After about three minutes, Gu Yue finally stopped. By now, the terrain around them had become almost identical to the Star Dou Forest.
It seemed that the original Lake of Life had indeed been her creation.
Throughout the process, Han Li hadn't been idle. He had been closely observing the rule based energies she manipulated, quietly gaining insight.
"You left in a hurry earlier, so I didn't get a chance to tell you this is a teaching method. It's relatively slow, but since you're the Plane's Sovereign, you can directly perceive the rules, so you'll progress much faster than others."
Gu Yue turned to face him, her expression calm.
"Combat sparring works the same way. The goal is to let you sense the fluctuations in the rules throughout the battle, using them as an entry point for comprehension."
Han Li caught the implication behind her words and raised an eyebrow. "From what you're saying, there are other methods?"
"Of course," Gu Yue nodded. "This is just one of the approaches."
"What are the others? Tell me about them."
Han Li was intrigued. Up until now, he had always been self learning, and the Plane's Will had only helped him clear away the fog, allowing him to face the rules directly there had never been any structured teaching.
"One method is devouring. The rule fragments of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings outside were likely stored within their soul bones and absorbed by you."
Gu Yue glanced at his arms. Han Li nodded.
"Another method is inheritance. The divine trials set by the God Realm operate on this principle. Though they are called 'inheritance,' in a way, they are more akin to transformation. Once the previous god has mastered the rules, the trials guide the inheritor to gradually align with those rules."
Seeing Han Li's expression darken slightly, Gu Yue quickly added, "Don't worry there are no negative side effects. The role of the god in this process is merely to serve as a bridge; they cannot interfere with the outcome."
Han Li's expression relaxed a little before she continued.
"However, since the previous god acts as an intermediary, their own understanding of the rules inevitably influences the inheritor's comprehension and mastery.
"The inheritor may reach the original god's level quickly, but due to the earlier influence, further breakthroughs require making up for those gaps. Without exceptional talent and deep insight, it's incredibly difficult.
"This is why inheritors rarely surpass their predecessors. Conversely, those who create their own godhood often advance further."
"That said, since you control the entire Plane, the rules are already laid bare before you. Later, when helping others refine their comprehension, it won't be particularly difficult for you."
Gu Yue narrated everything with a remarkably objective tone, partially to reassure Han Li. In this regard, she wasn't lying.
"So what about naturally born gods? Or incarnations of rules?" Han Li suddenly asked.
"There is actually a difference between the two," Gu Yue shook her head, correcting him.
"A naturally born god is simply someone who, at birth, has an innate affinity with a certain rule much like you. Rules are not a mystery to them, and they can manipulate them to attack or perform other feats. Their later cultivation and mastery are relatively easier, but their actual strength still depends on how well they grasp these rules over time."
"As for rule incarnations like the Asura God," Gu Yue paused slightly before continuing, "they are born with complete mastery over a specific rule. Their innate strength is immense, but their abilities manifest differently depending on their specialty. Additionally, they can still cultivate and master other rules beyond their original domain."
"However, unlike those who acquire rules later, their original rule brings both great advantages and heavy burdens. They must constantly endure the erosion of that rule, which is far more severe than for gods who grasp rules later in life. Their personalities are the best proof of this."
A thought suddenly flashed through Han Li's mind. He couldn't quite recall the exact details there were too many versions of Douluo Dalu but he vaguely remembered a conversation between Destruction and Asura. Asura had warned Destruction not to be influenced by killing intent.
So… was Asura actually looking for a scapegoat to replace him? Had he personally come down to find a successor for that very reason?
Han Li pursed his lips at the thought. Had he inadvertently helped Tang San?
But he quickly shook his head. Whether or not that was true, he would never allow Tang San to become a god. That was a matter of principle. If there was even the slightest chance of betrayal, Han Li would eliminate the threat before it could ever manifest especially if that threat was Tang San.
"Alright, I understand now. Thanks for the explanation." Han Li cupped his hands in gratitude. This was a valuable supplement to his foundational knowledge.
"No need. Even if I hadn't told you, you would have figured it out soon enough. Now, let me tell you about the final method."
Gu Yue shook her head before shifting her gaze back to Han Li.
"There's another one?" Han Li straightened up, ready to listen carefully.
"I call this method Imprinting. It's primarily used in bloodline inheritance and among close family members."
As she spoke, Gu Yue showed a fleeting trace of discomfort, though she concealed it well.
"Go on."
Han Li only then realized that they had been standing the entire time. As the host of this space, it would be inappropriate for him to manipulate the earth rule he had just gotten a feel for.
So, he simply took out two sofas, placing one in front of Gu Yue. Forming a seat from rules was impressive, but let's be real sofas were just more comfortable.
Gu Yue didn't mind and sat down naturally before continuing. "This method involves merging divine power and spiritual power, imprinting the rules one has comprehended onto the soul of the other party. Of course, the effectiveness depends on the weaker party's strength and endurance. Additionally, the process cannot be repeated within a short period."
"Even if the imprinting succeeds, it isn't permanent. The imprinted rules will subtly guide the recipient, similar to a divine trial, but in a more direct way. Over time, the imprint will fade, and how much one benefits from it depends on their ability to absorb and comprehend the rules within that period."
"Huh?"
Han Li had just lifted a glass of juice to his lips, but his hand froze midair.
Something didn't feel right.
This method… wasn't it similar to how he had developed the Martial Soul Fusion Technique? While his technique didn't involve rules, the fundamental concept wasn't too different.
Divine power… spiritual connection… rule imprinting… wasn't this just dual cultivation?
No wonder she mentioned that this method was usually used for bloodline inheritance and between family members. If two unrelated people tried this, it would be impossible to accept.
But… was she implying that she was okay with it?
Han Li's gaze turned to Gu Yue.
"This is the fastest way to improve. It benefits both you and me. During the process, I can use your perspective to touch upon other rules."
"The enemies we will face in the future may far surpass what you can imagine foes I had to approach with great caution even at my peak."
"Of course, you may never have to face them, but I cannot escape it. Everything I do is for the soul beast race."
Gu Yue's expression was abnormally solemn as she added that final statement.
At your peak? At your peak, you still couldn't win. Do you think I don't know that?
Han Li internally complained but could still understand her reasoning.
Reabsorbing the Golden Dragon King's power to become the Dragon God again was impossible. So, Gu Yue was aiming to grasp other rules and use them to break through?
But… how long would that take?
Had his appearance given her hope?
So basically, he was now a cultivation accelerator?
Still, her proposal was indeed tempting. She was born with mastery over seven major elements and had the strength of a peak first rank god. If what she said was true, he could gain immense benefits as well.
But damn it… this was definitely dual cultivation, wasn't it?
