Chapter 131: Wrath of the Fire God and Frostfeather Phoenix Dance
Since today's outing was mainly to test feasibility, they hadn't yet resolved everything they set out to do.
After confirming the stability and viability of their technique, Han Li and the other two exited their meditation and opened their eyes. Han Li was the last to stand up after all, he was the central conduit, so he had to ensure that both girls were completely safe before withdrawing his soul power.
"Looks like your idea actually works, kid."
Guang Ling smirked at Han Li as he stood up.
"Yes, it does. By using myself as the core conduit, we'll be able to fully establish a Martial Soul Fusion Technique in no time."
"Plus, this kind of deep synchronization training not only helps align our soul power fluctuations, but also makes our martial souls more compatible. Once we fully master it, our cultivation speed should increase by about 1.5 times."
Han Li smiled as he answered being at the center of the link, he could clearly sense these changes.
"Tsk, I'm kind of jealous of you guys. But if I were one of your peers, this would be terrible news." Guang Ling sighed as he looked at the three of them.
"Someone has to be stronger than the rest so why shouldn't that person be me? Didn't I promise you, Master, that I'd become the youngest Title Douluo? I've already reserved that title."
Han Li's mood was great, so he didn't mind revealing a bit of his ambition.
"That's the spirit keep it up!"
Guang Ling patted his shoulder, looking extremely proud.
"Li'er, do you think the Martial Soul Fusion Technique will work this time?"
Dugu Yan had been waiting patiently, but now she looked at Han Li expectantly.
"Yes, let's begin. I analyzed our compatibility earlier. We're stuck in an awkward position, fluctuating between 59% and 60% compatibility. That means our fusion is highly influenced by mental fluctuations."
"It seems like last night's success was partly due to luck. But now that I understand the issue, I can adjust our synchronization manually. Let's try again."
"Once we keep training like before, our compatibility will naturally surpass the threshold."
Han Li stepped forward and extended his hand. Dugu Yan didn't hesitate she activated Martial Soul Possession and grasped his hand firmly. The two of them walked toward the clearing where they had tested earlier.
"Alright, Yan Jie, let's begin release your martial soul aura and merge it with mine."
"Okay."
As soon as their soul power and auras connected, a crimson blaze enveloped them both. They braced themselves for fusion, expecting to merge
But something unexpected happened.
Their hands remained clasped, but instead of combining, their Martial Souls entwined, projecting a phantom between them.
The phantom's head resembled a dragon, or rather, a serpentine dragon, influenced by Han Li's dragon type Martial Soul energy. The humanoid torso was covered in scales, entwined by flaming serpents, with a scarlet flame mark at its brow.
Meanwhile, their Martial Souls transformed into two blazing dragons, roaring as they flanked the phantom.
Then, the phantom snapped its reins, riding the two fire dragons as it charged forward, leaving behind a trail of flames.
At the final impact, the phantom expanded, its form rapidly collapsing, and an explosive soul power surge far stronger than Han Li's fusion with Shui Bing'er detonated.
A thunderous explosion shook the skies, and the entire valley was bathed in crimson flames.
A nearby mountain took the full force of the impact, and after three seconds, it collapsed into the clearing.
Up in the air, the spectators had already taken flight.
Guang Ling and Qing Luan had swiftly shielded Xiu'er and the others with soul power, lifting them into the air to avoid the catastrophic aftermath.
As they looked down, they saw the valley completely engulfed in flames. Even the lake had been vaporized what remained was a scorched pit, emitting hissing sounds as the superheated ground evaporated any rising water before it could surface.
"My fish!"
Guang Ling wailed in sorrow.
"Enough about the fish!"
Qing Luan rolled her eyes. "Even if they were still alive, they would've frozen to death in the first test. And let's be real you never caught much anyway. Focus on finding Han Li and Yan Jie first!"
The explosion had been so sudden, they had only managed to protect those beside them.
As for Han Li and Dugu Yan?
Qing Luan trusted that a Martial Soul Fusion Technique wouldn't harm its users but seeing the devastation, she couldn't help feeling uneasy.
"Don't worry that brat is fire resistant, and he has absolute control over fire elements. He can protect Yan Jie just fine."
Guang Ling wasn't as concerned, smirking slightly.
Still, he joined in searching.
"Look there!"
Soon, he pointed toward the center of the inferno, where the flames were dying down.
At the source, Han Li stood calmly, extinguishing the flames with ease.
Dugu Yan was assisting him.
Within a minute, the entire valley was cleared of fire. But its previous beauty was gone now a charred wasteland, still radiating heat and scorched air.
"My secret base… is ruined."
Guang Ling sighed, scanning the surroundings as Han Li and Dugu Yan walked toward them.
"Out with the old, in with the new, Master! Besides, I didn't expect our Martial Soul Fusion Technique to be this destructive. First time, right? Hard to control."
Han Li grinned sheepishly.
"Sigh… fine, fine. What can I do? I'm your master."
Guang Ling shook his head helplessly.
"That's why you're the best, Master!"
Han Li gave a thumbs up, shamelessly buttering him up.
"Alright, explain why did your fusion look nothing like what you described?"
Guang Ling was curious.
"No idea. But last night was a fluke no real augmentation. We'll figure it out later. Right now, let's talk about this new Martial Soul Fusion Technique."
"Yan Jie and I have decided to name it Wrath of the Fire God."
Hearing the name, everyone nodded in agreement.
It fit perfectly a rampaging attack followed by an explosion.
Though Han Li didn't mention it, he had named it after the legendary fire god, Zhu Rong, from his past life.
It seemed their first test target had been a mountain, making Zhu Rong steal Gong Gong's job of crashing into mountains.
"As for the effects simple. 200% fire damage amplification, charging at enemies before detonating. Also, Yan Jie and I are completely immune to the explosion."
"Additionally, for 30 minutes after activation, if we stay in the fire, we get +50% fire damage and enhanced soul power recovery."
"It's basically a battlefield clearing move, though I think the sustain effect is kinda situational."
Han Li concluded his analysis.
"You spoiled brat you've got two Martial Soul Fusion Techniques, covering both single target and AoE attacks, and you're still complaining?"
Guang Ling knocked Han Li on the head, feeling a bit envious himself.
Han Li laughed and ignored the jealous undertone in his master's voice.
"Oh, right! Bing'er, I thought of a name for our fusion want to hear it?"
Shui Bing'er's eyes lit up.
"Of course! What is it?"
"Frostfeather Phoenix Dance."
"Frostfeather… Phoenix Dance?"
She whispered the name, then smiled.
"I love it! Let's go with that!"
