Chapter 326: A Sinister Smile
The bone white trident that had fallen before Tang San was in a damaged state. Its long handle, seemingly crafted from a human spine, had a portion broken off, and the three pronged tip was also missing a small section.
Tang San examined it carefully for a long time but couldn't discern anything special about it. Finally, he decided to infuse his spirit power into it.
Immediately
A terrifying suction force erupted from the bone trident!
But rather than fear
Tang San was overjoyed.
"It's reacting! That means it's working! The worst thing would be if it did nothing at all. If it wants my spirit power, then take it! Take as much as you want!"
He even actively channeled more power into it.
As it continuously absorbed his spirit power, the bone trident began to emit a sinister, dark glow.
It wasn't until every last drop of his energy was drained that the trident finally stopped
And in return, it transmitted a simple message into his mind:
"Blood... Soul..."
Just two words.
But that was all Tang San needed to understand.
From what he had seen in the video of his demonized future self, he immediately realized
This weapon was an artifact of the Abyss!
Or rather
A demonic weapon!
Though damaged, its essence remained unchanged
It was still an artifact class weapon!
"Today… is the day I rise again!"
Tang San's lips curled into a sinister smile.
A dark red glow flashed in his eyes.
What he didn't realize was that the trident had already begun corrupting him, subtly modifying his body.
Or maybe
Even if he had noticed, he wouldn't have cared.
At this point, he was more than willing to embrace the Abyss.
Becoming a demon
Was far more promising than being a mere Spirit Master.
"So… it needs blood and souls?"
His gaze shifted
Locking onto the other desperate survivors in the outer slums of Slaughter City.
His mind was already made up.
If killing people made him stronger
Then there was nothing to hesitate about.
The First Sacrifice
After absorbing Tang San's spirit power, the bone trident had already recognized him as its master.
He could now control it with ease.
With a thought, he shrunk it down to the size of a dinner fork and carefully hid it in his robes.
Then
He silently made his way toward a specific location.
Arriving at a secluded alley, Tang San held his breath and suppressed his aura.
Using Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, he moved noiselessly toward his target.
There, slumped against a dirty wall, was a middle aged man with greasy, unkempt hair.
His ragged clothes and filthy stench suggested he hadn't bathed in days if not weeks.
But Tang San wasn't much better off.
He had been barely surviving in the outer district, forced to pay two glasses of blood each month just to avoid being thrown into the death matches.
Here, the weak lived like beggars, relying on charity scraps from the inner city just to stay alive.
Tang San watched his target carefully.
The man was resting with his eyes closed, unaware of the grim fate approaching him.
Tang San silently drew the trident from his robe.
A sinister purple red glow flickered in his eyes.
With over a decade of practice in throwing hidden weapons, he whipped his arm forward
And threw the bone trident with lethal precision!
"Whoosh!"
The air whistled as the weapon pierced through the darkness.
The sleeping man's eyes snapped open
But too late.
The bone trident buried itself deep into his throat.
Instantly
A devouring force erupted from the wound!
"AAAAAAHHHHH!!!"
A bloodcurdling scream echoed through the alley.
The man convulsed, his body writhing in agony.
But
No blood flowed from the wound.
Because
Every single drop was being sucked away!
Along with
His soul.
The once strong middle aged man had no chance to fight back.
His screams grew weaker
Until finally
He fell silent.
His lifeless corpse slumped forward
His flesh shriveled.
His skin dried and cracked.
His eyes turned hollow.
Until, at last
He was nothing but a withered husk.
Tang San calmly watched as the man's body was drained of all life and essence.
With a gesture, he summoned the trident back.
The moment it returned to his grip
A surge of power flooded into him!
Tang San's eyes fluttered shut as he drank in the sensation
A blissful euphoria, like his very soul was ascending.
His body glowed faintly with a crimson light.
Strange scales, fur, and horn like protrusions flickered across his neck and arms
A sign of his transformation.
His body was already moving closer to that of a demon.
But the pleasure didn't last long.
Soon, the power transfer ended.
Tang San opened his eyes.
His body felt stronger.
He had never felt so alive.
A wicked grin spread across his face
Twisting his already sinister features into something even more horrifying.
Because just now
The bone trident had granted him a new spell.
Summon Skeletons.
His First Undead Minion
"Summon Skeletons?"
"Could this be… similar to the Necromancer magic I used in the video?"
Though it wasn't as powerful as Resurrection of the Undead,
It was still useful.
The stronger the corpse, the stronger the skeleton it produced.
Tang San raised his hand toward the withered husk before him.
A dim magic circle appeared in his palm.
Then
He chanted the incantation:
"Iku iku! Yamete! Dame yo~"
Immediately
The corpse rapidly decayed, its flesh dissolving into nothing.
Leaving behind
A bare skeleton.
Then
The skeletal frame began to move.
With an eerie creak, the bones assembled themselves.
Moments later
The soulless undead warrior stood up, waiting for orders.
Its eye sockets were empty
For its soul had already been devoured.
Unlike the Necromancer's undead army,
This skeleton had no will of its own.
It was merely a puppet
One that Tang San had to control manually.
But even so
Tang San was thrilled.
He had finally set foot into the mysteries of Abyssal Magic.
The power to rewrite fate was now within his grasp.
"One day, I will become the Demon King from the prophecy."
"And when that day comes "
"Everyone who looked down on me…"
"Will suffer for it!"
