Chapter 328: The Demon Descends
Above Spirit Hall City, a massive vortex suddenly tore through the sky, warping space as thick, ominous demonic energy erupted from within turning the entire sky dark and oppressive, casting the city into a terrifying, apocalyptic atmosphere.
The entire city fell into a state of alarm.
For days, reports had circulated that strange objects suspected to be artifacts from the future had been appearing out of nowhere across the world. Naturally, Spirit Hall had received this information in advance.
So the moment they saw this sinister rift in the sky, they immediately understood something huge was about to fall from it.
The vortex expanded rapidly.
Before long, a colossal entity emerged plummeting straight down from the sky.
Sharp eyed onlookers quickly recognized what it was
A demon's corpse.
"BOOM!!!"
The massive corpse crashed into the city like a falling meteor, smashing through countless buildings, leaving devastation in its wake.
Those standing nearby, drawn by their overwhelming curiosity, cautiously approached the enormous body.
As they got closer, they finally realized just how massive this demon was.
It was at least a hundred meters tall, with cloven hooves, curved ram horns, and an immensely muscular body covered in dark gray flesh. Its face was a horrifying sight blue skinned, fanged, and monstrous.
Most terrifying of all
Right in the center of its chest, there was a gaping hole a wound that pierced straight through from front to back. Through it, they could see dark, rotting flesh and thick, violet black blood still oozing from the wound.
Upon impact, this corrupted blood splattered in all directions coating the ground and nearby buildings. The moment anything touched the blood, it began to sizzle and corrode, releasing thick, black smoke into the air.
As people inhaled the contaminated air, some suddenly began coughing violently an odd sensation creeping through their bodies.
Then, to their absolute horror
Patches of scaly patterns started appearing on their skin.
Their eyes once normal began to turn blood red, their sclera darkening, their teeth growing longer and sharper.
"You… Your face!"
One of them pointed in shock only to freeze as the other person pointed back.
"Yours too!"
A terrible realization dawned on them.
It wasn't just one person changing they were all transforming.
"Run! Get out of here!!"
Panic stricken, they fled the contaminated zone.
Only the strongest soul masters those with immense soul power managed to resist the demonic influence for now. They, instead of fleeing, approached the demon's corpse their eyes filled with greedy anticipation.
They had seen the prophecies in the video they knew that demonic corpses and artifacts could be used by soul masters, provided they underwent proper purification.
And this wasn't just any demon
It was a god tier demon!
"Such a corpse… must be worth an artifact of the gods!"
Then, suddenly
One of them spotted something nearby.
Near the demon's colossal arm, buried in the rubble, was a gigantic skull shaped staff.
Immediately, their eyes turned crazed with greed.
They knew what this was
The demon's weapon.
A god's artifact!
A priceless treasure that could change the fate of whoever wielded it!
Madness filled their eyes.
Their rationality faded.
Blinded by greed, none of them noticed that something was terribly wrong.

There were so many people here.
If they all fought over it, how would they split it?

This skull staff was over a hundred meters long.
How the hell were they supposed to carry it away?
They believed they were resisting the demonic corruption with their soul power, but in reality

Their faces remained twisted in madness but their bodies began to shrivel.
The chains sucked away their life force, their energy, their very essence.
They didn't even have time to scream
Their bodies withered into dust.
Then
The "corpse" that had been lying motionless suddenly moved.
With a deep, guttural growl
The demon sat up.
The skull staff flew into its hand.
Meanwhile, the greedy fools who had rushed forward
Were now nothing but ashes, devoured by the very demon they sought to plunder.
"Ahhh… so much life in this world…"
With the souls and life energy it had absorbed, the gaping hole in its chest began closing
Only about one tenth repaired, but enough.
"More… I need more… souls!"
Sensing that no gods were present to oppose it, the demon's massive form began to levitate.
Then
Raising its monstrous skull staff high, it unleashed its power.
"Rejoice in my blessing!"
Dark clouds instantly covered the entire city.
Thunder rumbled.
From the storming abyss above, crimson lightning crackled, filling the sky with a terrifying blood red glow.
A city wide nightmare had begun.
The Guardians Arrive
Just as chaos began to spiral out of control
Two streaks of light one white, one purple rushed toward the demon.
Stopping several hundred meters away, the figures of Qian Daoliu and Bibi Dong emerged.
Their expressions were extremely grave.
Both were connected to the divine one the High Priest of an angelic god, the other a divine inheritor.
They could immediately sense the truth.
"That's a god level demon."
Had it been at full strength, they would have immediately fled.
Against a true god, neither of them both only half gods stood a chance.
But
It was injured.
It had not fully recovered.
That changed everything.
Bibi Dong and Qian Daoliu exchanged a look.
Then, they firmed their resolve
If they didn't stop this thing now, Spirit Hall itself might be destroyed!
A battle was inevitable.
