Chapter 175: The Sea God's Questions
"After over a hundred years of waiting, the moment has finally arrived. Oh, great Sea God, your servant can at last fulfill the mission you entrusted to me." Bo Saixi's voice carried both relief and reverence.
As soon as she spoke, a faint golden light began to rise from beneath her feet. In that instant, she seemed to enter a unique state, her entire being bathed in the soft glow of her soul power. As it enveloped her, her hair floated gently despite the lack of wind. One after another, her soul rings emerged, each shimmering with a golden hue. Among them, the weakest were of the ten thousand year level.
The dazzling golden light grew stronger, illuminating every corner of the Sea God's Temple. The intricate runes that had shone when Neptune first drew the Sea God's Trident now gleamed again under Bo Saixi's radiance, exuding a divine aura that seemed to cleanse all distractions from the mind.
Neptune stood silently by her side, sensing the sacred energy she released. He understood that the divine presence surrounding her came from the Sea God's power. Even her nine soul rings carried its divine essence. As the chosen High Priestess, she had been infused with the Sea God's power, essentially serving as a key to unlock the final inheritance. In every way except for lacking a divine throne, she was already no different from a god.
With her as the conduit and the gathered divine energy of Sea God's Island, even if the Deep Sea Demon Whale King were to attack, she might still prevail. As the Sea God's representative, her authority surpassed that of ordinary soul masters.
Suddenly, Bo Saixi shifted positions, moving from Neptune's side to stand directly in front of him. At that moment, her eyes also turned completely golden. Her nine soul rings expanded, each growing to over three meters in diameter. Neptune realized that his body was now enveloped within her soul rings. Seeing such an unusual spectacle sparked inspiration within him perhaps this could be useful for future fabrications… Yes, there was definitely potential here.
The entire Sea God's Temple had transformed into a spectacle of brilliance. The intricate wave like magic patterns spread across the temple walls, ceiling, and seven platforms. The golden light, like liquid mercury, flowed across the floor, filling the air with divine energy.
Between them, Bo Saixi held the golden scepter. The diamond shaped gemstone at its head shone ever brighter, though its glow was not blinding. Under this sacred radiance, the golden trident mark on Neptune's forehead also began to shine, a pleasant warmth spreading through his body. He felt as if every cell inside him was dancing with energy.
This feeling was absolutely incredible!
The entire temple functioned as a massive formation, with Neptune standing at its very center. A golden hexagram appeared beneath him and Bo Saixi, glowing brightly. This enormous six pointed star, spanning five meters in diameter, extended its points toward the other six platforms. From these points, six beams of golden light shot out, connecting with the corresponding platforms.
Suddenly, six towering golden pillars erupted from the platforms, flooding the temple with sacred light.
Bo Saixi gazed at Neptune, a faint smile forming at the corner of her lips. "Neptune, are you truly ready?"
Neptune, unwavering, met her gaze directly. "Yes, I am ready."
Bo Saixi's expression turned solemn. "The Sea God is the protector of all life in the ocean. As his successor, you must devote yourself to safeguarding your people. Neptune, can you do this?"
Without hesitation, he answered, "I can."
Though, inwardly, he found her phrasing somewhat flawed. If the Sea God protected all life in the ocean, did that mean he had to stop humans from fishing or prevent larger fish from eating smaller ones? The way he saw it, only those who provided him with faith were his people. Those who didn't? Well, they were of no concern to him.
Bo Saixi continued, "The Sea God is a beacon of light, the sovereign of the seas. Can you promise that your heart will always uphold righteousness, that you will wield the Sea God's power solely for justice?"
Once more, he affirmed, "I will bring the Sea God's justice to the world."
Of course, he knew justice was subjective. In war, both sides believed themselves to be righteous. So, as long as he became the Sea God, whatever he deemed just would be the Sea God's justice. Naturally, spreading his justice was his duty.
Finally, Bo Saixi spoke again. "The Sea God wields supreme authority over the ocean. As his heir, you must uphold his divine prestige, spread his light across every corner of the sea, and use your divine power to protect your people from foreign threats. Can you promise this?"
With absolute certainty, Neptune replied, "I will."
It was a given. If he became a god and some fool dared to challenge him, they would simply be sent to feed the fish. And of course, his people the ones who provided him with faith needed to be protected.
Satisfied with his answers, Bo Saixi's gaze became piercing, as if attempting to peer into his very soul. Neptune did not evade her scrutiny, allowing her to examine him as deeply as she wished. He understood that these questions were not mere formalities; they were part of the Sea God's final test.
But honestly at this stage, did the Sea God even have a choice?
Regardless of his inner nature, even if he were the vilest of villains, the Sea God had already invested too much in him to turn back now. These questions? They were nothing more than ceremonial. The decision had already been made.
