Chapter 8 - Chapter 2: Glimps of Each Other (Pt 4)

Should let one live for interrogation later.

Leaving the unconscious man behind, I walked out of the kitchen area, wiping the blood off my hands.

Then, the alarm kicked in, ringing throughout the entire building.

"Kind of late, don't you think?" I murmured.

Reaching the lobby, I reunited with my colleagues.

"...I've taken care of that giant."

Surprised expressions filled their faces. They certainly had many questions, but now wasn't the time.

"Send a message to the superior... I'll be heading outside," leaving only a few words behind before I walk off.

As I approached the dead guard's body beside the entrance. I examine the dead body.

Arrows... Must be an archer. From the looks of it, the attack is quite cordinated, so these three must be in the same group.

As I continue looking at the dead body a whistling sound cut through the air, closing in on me.

Instinctively, I raised my left hand, catching the noise.

In my hand, I had caught an arrow. This one had been aimed straight for my head.

-It came from out of nowhere... A hidden magic.

Two more whistling noises followed, but just like before, I caught both arrows with ease.

"You really think these would hit me?"

With a flick of my wrist, I threw it away before vanishing from where I stood.

*

On top of one of the tree branches, the archer is using her invisibility clock.

Where did he go?

No way someone can move that fast... but I didn't sense any magic.

Suddenly, a weight pressed down on her left shoulder.

"Found you."

*

Before she could react, I pull her before throwing her to the ground, her invisibility breaking. She quickly got up, but couldn't kept running for long.

Jumping down after her, I walked toward the archer.

"Even while in cloak, I could still hear the sound of your breathing."

She scrambled to her feet, reaching out for her bow. This when she noticed her bow was gone.

"Looking for this?" I asked, gripping her bow tightly in my right hand.

But the archer didn't look afraid.

A rustling noise came from behind me.

I ducked, barely avoiding a stab. Using the bow, I hooked the masked attacker by the neck and slammed him to the ground.

Yet, this attack didn't kill him somehow.

Durable... A slam like that would've killed someone easily especial from the neck.

The masked man quickly cut the bowstring and retreated into the shadows.

"You think I'm going to play cat and mouse with you?" I scoffed.

"Think again."

I sprinted toward the archer.

She barely had time to react...only managing to take a single step back.

The masked man rushed out from the darkness, but it was too late.

Grabbing one of the fallen arrows, I stabbed it straight through the archer's heart.

A cry of agony rang out.

"No!"

The masked man lunged at me in blind rage.

Without hesitation, I caught his wrist, twisted it, and drove another arrow straight through his throat.

The masked man gurgled, blood spilling from his mouth and throat as he collapsed.

I only watched as the life drained from him.

"I left one alive... That should be more than enough for interrogation. If I wasn't here, I wonder if they could have wiped out the entire building... Well, no point wondering that now."

I turned around, leaving the bloody scene behind.

*The next day

Anything that was broken that night was able to be fixed in time, and the grand meeting was held successfully.

When morning arrived, more superiors showed up at the headquarters.

The superior in charge was informed of the incident, and the guy I left alive is being interrogated right now.

As for me... I didn't get anything in return. Because I gave the credit to everyone instead of only myself. Even thought I know sooner or later the organization will probably find out the truth.

But hey, I want to have a bit of fun first before anything happens.

With that being said... I haven't even caught a glimpse of my mistress.

Along with a few others of the same rank, I worked as attendants for all the organization members arriving today.

So far, about 80 percent of the people on the list had arrived. Yet.....

Sigh... Why is she taking so long to arrive? It's already sunset... She's coming, right?... I hope so.

As if the world had heard my silence wishes, the noise of a carriage grew louder, and I grew tense, feeling something familiar.

My heartbeat was rising, but I needed to stay calm.

As the carriage stopped in front of the gate, I and the others started lining up at the sides.

My eyes were ficated on the carriage door handle.

As the door opened, I finally let off a breath of relieve.

A foot wearing crimson high heels stepped outside of the carriage. Then, the other foot followed, and finally, her whole body emerged.

I could tell that everyone standing on the sides tensed from the dangerous intent. But not me.

Watching as she walked by, her white and black hair trailed behind her.

She didn't even spare me a glance, yet I knew...one day, those eyes would be on me and me alone.
