Chapter 17.

With the help of the guards, Loki handed Odin over to their mother to care for him. Loki then took Odin's weapon—the Eternal Spear—and temporarily assumed the throne of Asgard.

Although many were dissatisfied with this sudden shift in power, no one dared challenge Loki, who now held the Eternal Spear. They could only accept the situation for the time being.

"Let's go. Let's have a look at this so-called Thor," Tony suggested, seeing the once-mighty warrior now being escorted without resistance by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to the interrogation room.

Everyone's curiosity was piqued. It was the first time they were about to meet the legendary Thor, and the anticipation was hard to ignore. Since there were no outsiders present, Coulson agreed and led everyone to the room where Thor was being held.

Knowing Thor's background, Coulson had ordered his agents to treat him politely and not to cause him any trouble—just to make sure he didn't leave the room.

But Thor wasn't interested in going anywhere. He was still reeling from the realization that he had truly lost his powers.

When Li Yue and the others entered the room, Thor didn't even lift his head to see who it was. It was obvious how deeply the situation had affected him.

"Thor of Asgard, greetings. I'm Li Yue. It's an honor to meet you," Li Yue said first, his words finally drawing Thor's attention. It was the first time since arriving on Earth that someone had addressed him as Thor.

"Oh, I'm no longer Thor," Thor replied bitterly. "I can't even lift my own weapon. What kind of Thor does that make me?"

In truth, back when Li Yue used to watch Marvel movies, his favorite character was Iron Man, the one he respected the most was Captain America, but the one he sympathized with and admired the most was Thor.

Thor's life had been full of tragedy—turning against his brother Loki, the deaths of his parents, a breakup with his girlfriend, discovering he had an older sister who sought to dominate the Nine Realms, and then witnessing his beloved hammer Mjolnir being crushed by her.

He even lost an eye in that battle. To defeat Hela, he was forced to initiate Ragnarok, destroying his homeland, Asgard.

And just as he escaped with his people, Thanos attacked. Half of them were slaughtered. Heimdall was stabbed through the heart, and Loki—his beloved brother—was murdered right in front of him. Thor could do nothing but watch.

As Thor himself had once said, he had nothing left to lose. But even in 'Avengers: Endgame', he suffered more setbacks, losing his physique and his self-confidence.

"Thor, are you the God of Hammers?" Li Yue asked playfully, looking at the dejected man.

"What God of Hammers? No, I'm the God of Thunder! Even without my powers, that doesn't give a mortal like you the right to insult me!" Thor suddenly snapped, angered at being belittled by someone he saw as beneath him.

"I didn't mean to insult you," Li Yue said calmly. "But if you're not the God of Hammers, then why did you become powerless the moment you lost your hammer?"

Thor froze. The question hit him hard. Why indeed? Why did he lose his identity and power when separated from the hammer?

"I understand now. Can you help me regain my powers?" Thor asked, suddenly filled with hope. "There must be a way. Tell me, how can I become the God of Thunder again?"

But Li Yue shook his head.

"No. You still don't get it. You are Thor. Your power doesn't come from the hammer or from anyone else—it's within you. No one can take away your identity as the God of Thunder."

"All you have to do is feel the power within you and learn to control it—just like this."

Li Yue stretched out his right hand. A small arc of electricity danced above his palm.

While the others weren't particularly surprised, Thor looked like he had just seen a ghost. His jaw nearly hit the floor.

That energy—he knew it well. It was the very thunder power he once wielded. How had Li Yue managed to absorb and use it without Mjolnir? Thor was stunned.

He remembered Li Yue's words, closed his eyes, and tried to focus. He searched inward, attempting to feel any trace of that long-lost power.

One minute passed… two minutes… three…

Everyone stared, waiting for something to happen. Thor remained motionless, straining to sense the divine power.

Pffffft!

Suddenly, a sound broke the silence. A strange smell followed, quickly spreading through the room. Everyone instinctively covered their noses and waved away the foul air.

(Does Thor fart? Who knows. ^_^)

Cough cough!

"I… I can't do it!" Thor said, opening his eyes in embarrassment.

Li Yue nearly coughed up blood in frustration. 'Is this guy serious right now? If you can't do it, just say so! Don't try to gas us out!'

"Uh, Thor, right? I think you look like a classic heroic figure—strong and shocking," Tony stepped forward, patting Thor on the shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. "You've just lost a favorite weapon. Big deal! Look at me—I've got a hole in my chest, and my life depends on this thing," he said, pointing at the arc reactor embedded in his chest.

"And yet, I'm still living and even became a superhero because of it."

Li Yue, however, didn't hear any actual comfort in Tony's words.

"Don't listen to Stark's nonsense," Steve Rogers chimed in.

"Look at me—I was frozen for nearly seventy years. I only woke up a few months ago. I've had to adapt to a world I barely recognize. Most of the people I knew are gone… and worst of all, I missed my date."

Li Yue still didn't feel like anyone was actually comforting Thor. Instead, it felt more like a sad contest. Sure, Thor might not be as miserable as them right now, but soon he'd probably be ten times worse.

Cough.

"Let Thor rest for now. Don't overwhelm him," Li Yue quickly interrupted when he noticed Natasha's eyes flicker—clearly, she was about to share her own tragic story. He decided it was time to change the subject and end this accidental pity party.

After the group left the room, Thor sat alone. Just then, he looked up—and to his shock—saw someone very familiar standing before him.

"How long do you plan to keep following us? Come out now… Loki, God of Mischief!" Li Yue suddenly said aloud while walking with the group. His voice dropped into a serious tone, and everyone froze, confused.

"Li Yue, what are you talking about?" Tony asked, looking around. "What base? Who's following us?"

Without answering, Li Yue narrowed his eyes and raised his hand. A blue magical staff appeared in his grip. He then cast the energy toward an empty area in front of them.

In a flash of blue light, a figure suddenly appeared, catching the magical whip mid-air as if it were nothing. Everyone watched, stunned.

"Well, well… someone in Midgard can see through my illusions. Impressive. But now… you die."

The figure Loki—smiled, but his voice turned cold and deadly, his murderous aura spreading through the air.

At that exact moment, Li Yue sensed danger behind him and instantly vanished.

A second later, another version of Loki appeared where Li Yue had just stood, a dagger in hand, aiming for a fatal strike. But he missed.

"I'll remember you," Loki said with a dark smile, locking eyes with Li Yue as he began to fade away. "Next time… I won't miss."

Captain America and Natasha leapt into action, but both slashed at nothing. Loki had already disappeared, but not before giving Li Yue one last eerie grin.

"Who… who was that guy?" Tony asked, still catching up to what had just happened.

"That," Li Yue said, eyes still locked on the empty space Loki had vanished from, "was the God of Mischief—Loki. Thor's brother."

Time passed quickly, and the next morning arrived with warm sunlight spreading over the small town.

A glowing blue portal suddenly appeared on an open field, and several people stepped out.

It was Li Yue and the others. Coulson wasn't with them—Tony had complained endlessly about the place last night and insisted on returning to his villa to rest, so Li Yue had opened a portal to send them back temporarily. Coulson, however, had stayed behind to handle the local situation.

They returned because Li Yue had mentioned something exciting was going to happen today—and of course, Tony couldn't resist the drama. Captain America and Natasha had nothing else planned, so they –tagged along.

Worth noting, Steve had brought his shield with him this time. He had a feeling things were about to get serious, and as Captain America, he never walked away from a fight.

"Good morning, Captain! You're –here!" Coulson came out from behind the barricade to greet them, eyes lighting up like a true fanboy at the sight of Captain America.

"Good morning, Coulson!" Steve greeted cheerfully.

"Alright, let's not waste time—how's Thor doing?" Tony asked bluntly, skipping the pleasantries.

"After Loki disappeared last night, I ordered my men to be on high alert. Thankfully, there were no incidents. But Thor… he's been in a strange state. He looked very sad all night. Didn't even rest—just sat there, silent."

Li Yue furrowed his brow. He recalled Loki's appearance last night and suspected that Loki must have told Thor something—probably that Odin had died—just to break his spirit. And knowing Thor's trusting nature, especially when it came to family, he likely believed it.

"Let's go check on him," Li Yue said calmly.

Coulson nodded and led them to Thor's room.

When they entered, they found Thor in the same state as before—actually, worse. His shoulders slumped, eyes dull, and a heavy air of despair surrounded him.

"Thor? What's wrong?" Li Yue stepped forward and gently pushed his shoulder.

"You're here. My father…. is dead. It was my fault. I acted recklessly. I can't forgive myself," Thor said, his voice cracking with emotion as he raised his head, his eyes red from sleeplessness and sorrow.

"You've been deceived. Your father isn't dead," Li Yue replied calmly.

Thor's eyes shot up with a flicker of hope, but it quickly faded.

"No… You weren't there. You didn't see it. My brother told me himself. Loki… he might play tricks, yes, but something like this? He wouldn't lie about that."

Li Yue sighed and rubbed his forehead in frustration. 'So gullible…'

Just then, an agent knocked on the door and whispered something in Coulson's ear.

"Mr. Li Yue, someone's here to see you."

"They just arrived? Good timing. Let Thor go with them."

"But…"

"Trust me. Keeping Thor here won't help. And more importantly, you should start evacuating the townspeople. A battle is coming."

After a moment of hesitation, Coulson nodded and let Dr. Jane take Thor, who was still emotionally shaken. Two agents followed discreetly for security. Meanwhile, Coulson quietly dispatched another team to start evacuating the residents of the nearby area.

A few hours later, unusual weather patterns were reported near the outskirts of town. A powerful beam of light shot down from the sky, marking the ground with a glowing, ancient symbol. When the light vanished, four figures in strange Asgardian armor stood where it had landed. Without hesitation, they began walking toward the town.

Back at base, Coulson received a report and immediately relayed it to Li Yue and the others.

"Mr. Li Yue, do you know who those four are?"

"They're also from Asgard—Thor's friends. They've come to find him. Let's go. The real show is about to begin."

Without waiting, Li Yue opened a portal. He stepped through, followed by Tony, Steve, and Natasha. Coulson, however, stayed behind to manage the agents and investigate the landing site.

Meanwhile, the three warriors of Asgard –and Lady Sif had just found Thor. He looked up in disbelief when he saw them.

"You're here?" he asked with a flicker of emotion.

"We came to bring you home!" one of them replied with a warm smile.

But Thor's face fell again, shadowed by guilt.

"No… I can't return. My father… he died because of me. I don't deserve to go back."

"What? No! Odin isn't dead—he's just fallen into the Odinsleep."

Thor froze.

"...What did you say? He's not dead?"

"Of course not! Who told you that?"

"...Loki," Thor muttered, realization dawning.

"LOKI!!! You lied to me again!"

His eyes blazed with new fire. The trickster god's deception had worked—until now. And Thor was finally ready to fight back.

Thor was stunned at first, then his face twisted with anger as the realization sank in—he had been played by Loki once again.

"I told you earlier that your father wasn't dead, but you didn't believe me. You really are too naïve!" Li Yue muttered as he teleported onto the scene, arriving just in time to witness Thor's moment of –revelation.

Meanwhile, Jane, Daisy, and Dr. Selvig were struggling to keep up with the whirlwind of reality-bending events. First, four warriors dressed in strange armor arrived, claiming to be Thor's friends. That alone shook their entire worldview.

'Could Thor really be… a god?'

Then, right before their eyes, a glowing blue portal appeared in thin air. Several more people stepped out—among them, Tony Stark.

Daisy gasped in disbelief, eyes lighting up with excitement.

"Oh my God! That's Tony Stark! The Iron Man! I can't believe I'm seeing him in person. I have to get his autograph!"

Her fan-girl moment snapped the others out of their daze. Tony, hearing her, gave a smug smile and struck a pose, basking in the attention.

But just then, the skies darkened again. Another wave of unnatural weather swirled in the distance, drawing everyone's attention.

"Who else could be coming now?" Thor asked, turning to his fellow Asgardians.

They all shook their heads. "We don't know."

"Then let's go see for ourselves," Li Yue said with a grin. With a lazy flick of his hand, he conjured another blue portal and walked through it. He was clearly getting used to avoiding even the shortest walks.

Thor snapped out of his thoughts and quickly followed, calling Sif and the three warriors to join him. Though intrigued by the portal, they accepted it easily—Asgardians were no strangers to magic.

"Am I dreaming?" Dr. Selvig asked in a daze. His voice trembled. Today's events were a full-on assault on everything he believed as a man of science.

"Let's go see it for ourselves!" Daisy said eagerly, and without hesitation stepped into the portal. Jane, still stunned, followed after her.

The portal shimmered and vanished the moment they passed through. When they opened their eyes again, they were standing outside the town. Above them, the sky churned violently, clouds spinning like a massive funnel.

"I hate to be the one to say it, but that doesn't look friendly," Tony muttered, his expression growing serious.

Thor and his companions looked grim as well—something was definitely wrong.

Their instincts were proven right. As the dark clouds began to break, a colossal metallic figure descended from the heavens—a silver armored giant that radiated raw power.

"...Can I sue it for copying my style? Looks like it stole my idea," Tony quipped, but even he had begun quietly activating his armor via J.A.R.V.I.S.

"That's the Destroyer," Thor said solemnly. "A weapon forged from Uru metal, crafted by my father, Odin himself. Its power is immense—everyone, fall back!"

But no one moved.

"Relax," Li Yue said casually. "We've got Iron Man here. This oversized toaster can't do much."

Tony flashed a confident grin, while Captain America silently readied his shield, stepping into position.

"You protect Thor!" Sif ordered the others, then rushed at the Destroyer alongside the three warriors.

"For Asgard!" the axe-wielding warrior roared as he charged forward, leaping high and swinging down at the giant's head.

But the Destroyer's response was instant. A single punch sent the warrior flying backwards at breakneck speed.

The other two charged in, –but they too were quickly knocked aside, hitting the ground hard and staying down.

Then, the Destroyer's head began to glow with a fiery orange light, the energy building and focusing toward its faceplate.

It aimed directly at the fallen warriors.

Just as the energy was about to fire, Sif sprang onto the Destroyer's back and drove her blade into its neck. The energy build-up stalled, dissipating with a faint hiss.

"That's it? Was that all it took?" Tony asked, momentarily surprised. His suit hadn't arrived yet, so he was watching from a distance.

"Don't relax yet. It's not over," Captain America said as he dashed forward to help.

The Destroyer's body suddenly shifted, the metal plates reconfiguring. Its front and back reversed, turning its face toward Sif, yellow energy swirling and focusing once again.

A thick beam blasted from its face.

Fortunately, Sif leapt off just in time, barely escaping the fiery blast. She hit the ground running, sprinting to regroup.

The battle had just begun—and the real storm was still brewing.

But the Destroyer quickly regained its mobility. Without hesitation, it unleashed another blast of searing yellow energy from its faceplate—this time aimed straight at Sif, who was sprinting desperately to avoid it.

There was no time. If the beam struck her, the result would be catastrophic. At best, she would survive with severe injuries—at worst...

"NO!!!" Thor and the three warriors shouted from the ground, still struggling to rise, their eyes wide with panic and helplessness.

Just then, a blur flashed across the battlefield like a bolt of lightning. A figure dashed toward Sif, planting himself between her and the beam just in time. With a resounding clang, a circular shield intercepted the blast.

It was Captain America.

The energy beam struck the vibranium shield and deflected harmlessly to the side, scattering sparks into the air. Cap stood firm, bracing himself against the sheer force of the attack, shielding Sif completely.

From behind the crowd, Dr. Selvig blinked in disbelief, finally snapping out of his dazed state.

"This figure... it looks familiar. I think I've seen him before..." he murmured, eyes fixed on the man with the iconic shield.

His mind flashed back to childhood visits to the museum, to the grand statue of the nation's symbol—Captain America. And now, standing before him in the flesh, the resemblance was undeniable.

"He's... he's Captain America! Oh my God, how is he still alive?!"

Daisy gasped when she heard that. Recognition dawned in her eyes too.

"That's really him?!" she exclaimed, awestruck.

Tony Stark, standing nearby, gave a subtle eye-roll as he watched the sudden shift in attention. He felt a twinge of annoyance. He hated when someone else stole the spotlight.

"Jarvis," he muttered under his breath, "how much longer for the armor?"

Meanwhile, not far from the battlefield, Agent Coulson was approaching the area in a black S.H.I.E.L.D. SUV, accompanied by several agents.

Suddenly, a loud whoosh tore through the sky overhead. The vehicle shook slightly from the shockwave.

"What the hell was that?" Coulson asked, looking up through the windshield.

One of the agents rolled down the window and leaned out, eyes scanning the skies. All he could see was a blur streaking forward through the clouds—something metallic, fast, and headed straight for the action.

"…I think the cavalry just arrived," the agent muttered.

And sure enough, Iron Man was on his way.

"Step on it! Get us there ASAP." Coulson's voice was firm as he looked ahead with a focused gaze. He instantly recognized the blur that had flown past—Stark's armor. And if Tony had activated it, things must have escalated. Badly.

Back on the battlefield, Captain America stood tall, shielding the fallen warriors and Sif as the Destroyer advanced with heavy, relentless steps. The yellow energy pulsed ominously in its chest again, ready to fire another blast.

But Cap didn't flinch.

Li Yue stood nearby, observing the scene calmly, arms crossed. He didn't move to assist—instead, he looked at Thor with a sharp, almost calculating gaze.

"Tell me, Thor," Li Yue called out, his voice laced with challenge, "doesn't this make you feel useless? Standing there while your friends suffer… watching them bleed while you do nothing."

Thor's head snapped toward him, his fists clenched tightly.

"You're the son of Odin. Born with the power of a god. But look at you now—hiding behind others, unable to protect the people you care about."

Li Yue's words cut deep. They weren't cruel—they were true. And that's what made them hurt most.

Thor's expression twisted with pain, guilt, and frustration. He opened his mouth to argue—but there were no words. Nothing to refute the truth.

He dropped to his knees, punching the ground in frustration. Then—

"No!!!"

Thor roared, raising his head to the stormy sky.

"I am Thor, Prince of Asgard! No one will harm my friends! Not while I still breathe!"

–Jane watched from the side, heart pounding. She wanted to reach out, to comfort him—but she didn't know how. This wasn't something she could fix.

But Li Yue simply smiled.

Because he saw it—the sparks.

Tiny arcs of silver lightning dancing along Thor's clenched fists. A low hum built in the air as dark clouds gathered above, swirling violently. The wind howled as thunder rolled across the sky.

And then—boom.

Far away at the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, Mjölnir—Thor's enchanted hammer—shuddered. A surge of energy coursed through it, and in an instant, it launched into the air with a sonic boom, streaking across the sky like a missile.

Back in town, the eye of the storm centered around Thor. Electricity crackled across his body, wrapping around him like armor. His hair lifted, his muscles tensed, and the air around him pulsed with raw power.

"Holy crap," Tony muttered, eyes wide. "Li Yue, he's stronger than you."

But Li Yue only grinned. A sly, knowing grin.

This was exactly what he wanted.

He had intentionally provoked Thor—not out of malice, but to force his awakening. And now that it worked, Li Yue's eyes gleamed with interest.

More importantly, he felt something stir within himself.

As Thor's divine energy erupted outward, Li Yue's body resonated with it. His adaptive evolution ability kicked in, scanning and simulating the transformation.

Silver arcs began forming across his own arms, subtle at first, but growing stronger. A tingle surged through his nerves as the energy began to wrap around him.

It wasn't just inspiration—Li Yue was replicating it.

Not entirely, not yet. But soon...

Thor would not be the only god of thunder on this battlefield.
