[Augustus Mansion]
The grand hall of the Augustus duchy was bathed in the golden glow of crystal chandeliers. Outside, the evening moonlight filtered through tall windows, casting soft reflections upon the marble floor.
The scent of fresh flowers danced in the air—courtesy of Duchess Julia's personal garden—and a gentle warmth filled the room as the fireplace crackled quietly in the background.
In the center of the hall stood a majestic, polished black piano. Seated before it, with calm composure and a faint smile, was Noah Von Augustus. His fingers hovered above the keys for a moment, then gently descended.
A soft, mellow note rang out.
Everyone had gathered—his father Duke Richard with his arms crossed proudly, Julia sitting beside him with a soft smile. On one sofa sat Scarlett, Layla, and Lyra, all wearing cozy house robes, their eyes fixed on Noah with gentle anticipation. Alea stood by the window, arms folded, lips slightly curved.
Noah closed his eyes, took a breath, and began singing—a melody filled with warmth, peace, and a hint of longing.
[Song Title: "When I Look at You"]
"In the quiet of the night, under silver skies,
I see a dream within your eyes."
"No need for crowns or swords of flame,
Just your smile, and I'm whole again."
"When I look at you, the world fades away,
Storms grow still, skies turn grey."
"No need for words, no need to run,
You're my moon, I'm your sun."
"So hold me close, don't let me go,
In this life, you're all I know."
"When I'm lost, and shadows fall,
Your heart is home, your voice is my call."
"And I swear this vow to see it through…
Your smile… when—I look at you."
As the last note faded into silence, the room remained still. The echo of Noah's voice seemed to linger in the warm air.
Scarlett had both hands on her chest, her heart thudding loudly. A soft blush crept across her cheeks as she whispered, "He's really unfair…"
Layla blinked several times before slowly wrapping her arms around a pillow and muttering with a grin, "He better marry all of us at this point."
Lyra's expression was unreadable at first—but then she looked down, a rare softness in her eyes. "I've never heard anything… so warm," she said under her breath.
Alea arched a brow, amused. "He sings too? Is there anything this boy can't do?"
Duke Richard laughed deeply, clapping his hands once. "Looks like my son can charm nations without even raising a sword."
Julia dabbed at her eyes with a handkerchief. "It's the first time I've seen them all this quiet."
Noah gave a humble bow and stood up, stretching slightly. "I just… wanted to sing something from the heart."
Just then, a knock echoed from the main doors. A servant entered, carrying a letter sealed with an intricate white rose insignia.
"A royal message from the Imperial Capital, addressed to Young Master Noah," the servant announced.
Noah stepped forward and took the letter. The seal was unmistakable—elegant and regal.
Charlotte.
He carefully opened it. Inside was a delicate envelope lined with gold, the parchment finely pressed. The scent of roses wafted from it.
[ROYAL INVITATION]
To Noah Von Augustus,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally invite you to attend my 18th birthday celebration, held in the last day of this month, night at the Imperial Palace of Angelis.
It has been some time since we last spoke. I understand that things… were left unresolved between us. And perhaps I have no right to ask this of you, but I would like to see you again.
You are free to come as you are. You may also bring your companions—they are all most welcome.
There is a dance during the celebration. If you would be willing… I would like to share it with you.
As Noah read the letter, his expression shifted from surprise to curiosity, and then to thoughtfulness.
Scarlett peeked over his shoulder. "A royal birthday party?"
Layla grinned. "So the Princess, herself finally makes her move."
Lyra gave a knowing smirk. "Are you going to accept?"
Noah looked around at the people who meant so much to him, then back at the letter.
"I suppose… it's time we pay a visit to the capital."
To be continued…
