The thunderous roar spread across all of Wano. The island shook from the impact.
Countless people looked toward Onigashima, fear and confusion written on their faces.
On the battlefield of Onigashima.
A massive crater had formed in the ground.
Kaido held black and red lightning in his left hand. It twisted and flashed like a lightning whip. Haki wrapped around it, forming something like a chain. It was linked to the underside of the crushed golden shield embedded in the ground.
His right hand gripped the Hassaikai, pressing down hard on the shield. He kept forcing it downward, as if trying to smash it apart.
The golden shield, coated in pitch-black Haki, resisted the overwhelming force. At the same time, it began to turn red at a visible speed.
Boom!
A deafening explosion followed as a mushroom cloud rose into the sky.
The compressed lightning detonated. The shockwave blasted Kaido backward for a short distance. He quickly stabilized himself. The lightning in his left hand surged with even more Haki and tightened its grip on Enel.
Rubble scattered.
Enel shoved the broken stones off his body. Blood flowed from the corner of his mouth, his eyes, and his ears. It looked terrifying.
"Cough… cough…" He coughed as his right arm hung uselessly. The high-speed dive from ten thousand meters had shattered it completely.
He grabbed the broken arm with his left hand. Lightning surged into his body to stimulate it. Combined with Life Return, his body slimmed slightly. The bones in his right arm barely fused back together, allowing limited movement.
If he wanted a full recovery, he would need time. Right now, that was impossible.
The lightning wrapped around his left arm was still there, mixed with Kaido's Haki. It was hard to dispel. Kaido's Haki was far stronger than his.
The black and red lightning bound to Kaido's will wrapped around him, locking him in place. He could not even turn into lightning.
He had to break this lightning chain first. Only then could he escape or continue fighting.
Enel swung his left arm and tried to counter it with his Devil Fruit power. It did nothing.
Wiping the blood from his mouth, he said, "I miscalculated. I should have left."
Not far away, Kaido also shook his left arm and poured in more Haki. The lightning chain tightened around Enel.
"Not bad, brat. You can still move. If I kill you, Sakazuki will lose his mind. Wororororo!"
While Kaido spoke, Enel gathered lightning in his right hand. The shattered golden shield melted and reshaped into a long golden staff.
"Trying to anger Uncle Sakazuki. That is not a smart choice, Kaido."
Kaido stopped laughing as his dragon eyes twisted with cruelty. A savage grin spread across his face. "That is exactly what I want."
His Haki erupted like solid flames, blasting outward.
He stomped down.
The ground caved in. In his hybrid form, Kaido charged forward with the Hassaikai wrapped in Conqueror's Haki. Lightning trailed behind him in the air.
"Thunder Bagua!"
Enel clicked his tongue. He gripped the golden staff with both hands. Conqueror's Haki and lightning flared as he swung back.
The weapons collided. Lightning exploded between them.
After a brief clash, Enel was forced back.
His right arm could not apply strength. Cold sweat ran down his face as he was blasted backward.
Kaido chased him with a feral grin. The lightning linking their left arms was like the chain of death. It would not break unless one of them died.
Clang!
The Hassaikai smashed Enel away once more.
Scorching energy gathered.
"Blast Breath!"
A beam of fire filled with destructive power shot straight at Enel.
As he was flying backward, Enel raised the golden staff at the beam. Lightning burst out.
The staff melted again and reformed into a golden shield. Haki coated it as he blocked. Simultaneously, several drops of liquid gold fell and floated into his left palm. They spun rapidly, forming a golden ring.
Boom!
The Blast Breath slammed into the shield, making Enel groan. Blood trickled from his mouth, but his movements did not slow. He swung his left hand.
The spinning golden droplets traced a perfect arc. They wrapped around the Blast Breath and shot toward Kaido's head.
Kaido's eyes narrowed. It was too late to dodge.
Dense Haki instantly covered his body.
The golden droplets detonated in front of him with a blinding flash. Blue lightning exploded and spun outward like a storm.
BOOM!
Following a thunderous boom, the lightning storm expanded violently. Even Enel was dragged into it.
On the opposite side of the blast, countless green wind blades burst out. They carried Haki and tore through the shockwaves, forcibly stopping the spread.
Chaotic currents collided everywhere, and both fighters were forced to halt.
The lightning chain between them was about to fade. Kaido stabilized himself and reinforced it again.
Enel frowned. Part of the golden shield melted into liquid and gathered in his left hand.
There was no time to save these pieces of gold that had been nurtured with Haki for years, and could store high-voltage lightning. If he held back now, he would really die here.
Far away, Kaido swung the Hassaikai several times.
Pillar-like shockwaves crushed everything in front of them and surged toward Enel.
The air was filled with them. There was no path to retreat.
Enel pointed to the sky.
"Mamaragan!"
Lightning shot upward.
The dark clouds above Onigashima spread and thickened.
Columns of lightning rained down from the sky. They struck the incoming shockwaves. Explosions chained together, forming a barrier between them.
ROAAR!
A deep and ancient roar echoed.
A colossal azure dragon shot into the sky. Even through the wall of fire and explosions, half of its massive body could still be seen.
At the same time, the lightning chain binding Enel suddenly thickened and surged.
Kaido's enormous dragon body ignited in flames. The air warped from the heat. The flames gathered at his head.
"Flame Dragon Torch!"
"Rising Dragon: Flame Bagua!"
With unstoppable force, he charged straight at Enel.
Enel stared at the incoming dragon and a chill ran straight through his mind. 'I will die.'
The thought surfaced instantly.
There was no way to avoid it. The lightning linking them locked him down completely.
He cursed under his breath.
The liquid gold in his left hand formed countless golden needles. They shot toward the core of every weapons factory on the island.
If he was going down, Kaido would not get off easily.
Each needle stored enough lightning to erase everything within a hundred meters. The only thing he had not expected was Kaido waiting in ambush here.
Otherwise, he would not have wasted so much.
There was no getting that gold back.
There was no time to think anymore either. Kaido's dragon head was already in front of him.
Enel braced both arms against the golden shield. He unleashed everything, Devil Fruit power and Haki alike.
BOOOM!
