On the deck of the Going Merry, Su Xiaoqi finally laid eyes on Princess Vivi—and at the same time, the remaining members of the Blackbeard Pirates.
Van Augur stood atop the mast with his rifle aimed squarely at Su Xiaoqi. Lafitte remained by Vivi's side, never letting his guard down, and Doc Q, looking as if he were on his deathbed, was slumped weakly over his horse.
But what put Su Xiaoqi most on edge was Blackbeard himself. Say what you will about the man, but he was extremely cautious. Not only had he ordered Burgess to restrain Nami, but he also never let his guard down for a second while escorting Su Xiaoqi from the cabin to the deck. His Darkness-Darkness Fruit ability had been activated the whole time.
After observing Princess Vivi for a moment, Su Xiaoqi gave a satisfied smile and looked at Blackbeard. "I'll be taking the princess of Alabasta. Name your price."
"Zehahaha!" Blackbeard let out a booming laugh. Then, signaling to Lafitte and Burgess to bring Vivi and Nami forward, he said:
"You can only choose one of them. The woman you abandon—I'll throw her into the sea."
Su Xiaoqi looked at Blackbeard like he was a moron and held out his hand. "Give me a knife."
"…What?"
Blackbeard was dumbfounded. I'm just asking you to make a choice—why do you want a knife?
With contempt on his face, Su Xiaoqi said, "I'm really starting to doubt whether you're actually a pirate. Why complicate things? Just chop that orange-haired woman into pieces and be done with it."
Across from him, Nami's jaw dropped in disbelief. I'm your chat group member, remember? And she's just some outsider. Blackbeard only wants to toss me into the ocean—but you? You want me chopped up?
Sure, I cost you 50,000 points—but you've tricked me too before. We're even now! Why hold such a grudge?!
Fuming, Nami poured all her frustration into the chat group, accusing Su Xiaoqi of plotting to violate her.
Unbothered, Su Xiaoqi glanced at the chat, then looked back at Blackbeard and urged, "Come on, hurry up and give me a knife. A sharp one—I prefer a clean cut."
"You bastard! Even if I die, I'll haunt you forever!" Nami shouted, furious beyond words. If that brute hadn't tied her up, she would've punched Su Xiaoqi in the face right then and there.
Could they really not know each other? Blackbeard was starting to get confused by the strange dynamic between the two. Still wary, he said, "Well, you've seen the princess now. How about showing me what you can do?"
Su Xiaoqi smiled. "What's the point in just showing it? Don't you, as captain, want to test it for yourself? Let's see if your pirate crew is even worth joining."
"You want to fight me?" Blackbeard gave a mocking grin. "That depends—are you even worthy of me lifting a finger? Boys, take him."
At his command, Van Augur pulled the trigger from atop the mast, while Burgess and Lafitte charged at Su Xiaoqi.
But Su Xiaoqi had been watching that sniper like a hawk from the moment he stepped onto the deck. The instant Blackbeard gave the order, Su Xiaoqi moved.
"Teleportation Fruit?" Blackbeard muttered as he watched Su Xiaoqi instantly appear at the top of the mast and knock out Van Augur in a single strike. That seemed to match one of the Devil Fruits he knew of—barring the few already consumed.
Su Xiaoqi, now back on deck with Van Augur in tow, casually tossed the unconscious sniper toward Doc Q. He had no desire to deal with that freak's Sick-Sick Fruit. That ability was nothing but a curse.
The last thing I need is to be turned into a woman—do you know how inconvenient bathroom breaks would be?
"What a bunch of useless trash," Blackbeard muttered, scowling as he watched his crew fall apart under Su Xiaoqi's hands. With a snarl, he activated his Darkness-Darkness Fruit.
"Dark Vortex."
Suddenly, Su Xiaoqi felt a powerful force pulling his body forward.
Blackbeard seized him by the arm and laughed maniacally. "Zehahaha! My Devil Fruit is the Yami Yami no Mi—the strongest of them all! Your teleportation might be fast, but now you can't use that ability anymore."
"Boy, join my crew, and I'll spare your life. I'll even give you the orange-haired girl. Otherwise, I'll cut you up myself—just like you said earlier."
Blackbeard had never intended to hand over Princess Vivi. She was far too valuable to him.
Su Xiaoqi struggled for a moment but then suddenly stopped. Just when Blackbeard thought he had given up, Su Xiaoqi's lips curled into a faint smirk.
"HAH!"
With a loud shout, a torrent of energy exploded from Su Xiaoqi's body, forcing Blackbeard to release him.
"What the hell?!"
As Blackbeard reeled in shock at his fruit's failure, Su Xiaoqi's fist slammed into his chest, sending him flying straight off the ship and into the sea.
The sudden turn of events stunned the rest of the Blackbeard Pirates. The first to recover, Lafitte, shouted, "Hold him off! I'm going to rescue the captain!"
In the blink of an eye, wings sprouted from Lafitte's back, and he took to the skies, diving toward the spot where Blackbeard had fallen.
Su Xiaoqi hadn't expected this bunch—despite being evil to the core—to actually be this loyal to their captain.
Burgess, Van Augur, and Doc Q threw everything they had into buying Lafitte a few precious seconds. But it was all in vain. Su Xiaoqi wiped them out in one blast of Kamehameha, just as Lafitte disappeared into the sea.
"Su Xiaoqi!" Nami shouted. "Why are you standing there? Go after him! You've got a chance to kill Blackbeard!"
"Go after my ass," Su Xiaoqi grumbled inwardly. Of course I know this is the best chance to finish him—and earn a load of points.
But what was he supposed to tell Nami? That he couldn't swim? That he was a complete landlubber? She'd never let him live it down.
Ignoring Nami, who was now gnashing her teeth at him, Su Xiaoqi turned to Vivi and prepared to untie her ropes.
But the moment he reached out, Vivi thrashed and screamed, "You devil! I'd rather die than let you touch me—ptui!"
Stunned by the spit now dripping down his face, Su Xiaoqi froze. Nami did too—before bursting out laughing.
Five minutes later, after the truth came out, Vivi awkwardly wiped Su Xiaoqi's face while apologizing profusely.
"I'm so, so sorry. I didn't know you were here to rescue us—or that you were Nami's friend…"
Nami huffed and muttered, "Vivi, you don't need to apologize. Honestly, he might've enjoyed that. He was about to chop me up just to save you."
Vivi's cheeks turned crimson. She looked at Su Xiaoqi and said, "I'm not usually like that. That was... really just a misunderstanding."
"I haven't introduced myself yet—my name is Nefertari D. Vivi. It's a pleasure to meet you, and... thank you for saving me."
