June POV:
We pulled up to a place I'd never seen before, tucked away on private land I didn't even know Justin owned. The unfamiliar silence of the area unnerved me. I spotted the car he'd taken earlier, still parked at the edge of the property.
Rico cut the engine, his face tight with concern. "I'll drop you here," he said, glancing over at me. "I don't want Justin on my neck for bringing you here. You'll have to go in yourself."
I nodded, heart pounding. "Thanks, Rico," I said quietly, barely managing a smile.
He didn't respond, just put the car in drive and peeled off, leaving me standing at the edge of a moment I wasn't sure I was ready for. The house loomed before me, its shadows too quiet, too still.
