Heather felt jealousy. Not jealousy of another woman or her sister. But jealousy of a damn toy!

Quietly, she pulled herself up, fighting against the weakness in her body. Her eyes burned, but she turned and walked to the door anyway.
"My baby… my baby… sleep well, my darling." Isabel hummed. "Tomorrow will be bright, and you, my sunshine, will be the brightest star in the galaxy."
Heather closed her eyes as the words pierced her. She couldn't watch anymore. She pulled the door shut behind her with a sharp push.
And there he was again. Still in the hallway; he was probably waiting. His eyes were on her the moment she stepped out.
Heather's lips parted, but instead of words, a low groan of frustration slipped from her. She didn't want to see him.
Caius noticed the sharpness in Heather's tone the moment she spoke. It wasn't hard to miss. He didn't want to upset her, but her reaction pulled at him, so he followed.
