Today was the doctor's appointment, and Heather was leading the specialist that the hospital had recommended after Caius's last visit.
The specialist, a tall man in his early 40s, walked beside her as they made their way down the hallway.
"How bad is his condition?" he asked. "I went through the medical records Dr. Chen sent over. It says here he previously underwent knee surgery."
Heather stopped walking for half a step, furrowing her brows.
She hadn't known that. Caius had never told her he'd had knee surgery before. She understood he didn't want to relive painful memories, but still, why keep that from her completely?
Then again, it wasn't like they were close. She had gone out of her way to make him think she hated him. Maybe she still did… just not as much as before!
She decided there was no point pretending she knew more than she did. "I never knew he had surgery," she said honestly.
