Shadows with unnatural speed and strength emerged from all directions, slamming into the vehicle escorting the maids, clawing and snarling like feral beasts. The evening, which had been quiet and still, now exploded into a frenzy of howls, shattered glass, and the sound of bodies crashing against metal.
Roman reached over and touched Tessy's hand gently, his eyes calm despite the chaos around them.
"Stay in the car," he said, his voice firm but laced with quiet reassurance. "I will handle this."
Tessy wanted to argue. She wanted to grab his arm and beg him to stay. But the urgency in his tone, and the way his gaze had already drifted to the threat outside, stopped her. She could only nod, even though fear clawed at her chest like sharp talons. Her thoughts raced back to something he had said earlier—his wolf was still weak. He had not fully recovered.
That alone was enough to make her stomach twist into knots.
