Raine wasn't planning to jump.
She just wanted to feel alive again. Not like the girl with too many mates and no one to talk to about it. Not like the girl who didn't even understand why fate was playing games with her heart.
From below, the rooftop door creaked open.
"Raine?"
It was Selena's voice — shaky and confused.
Then Killian's. "Raine? What the hell are you doing?!"
She didn't hear their footsteps at first, only the panicked gasps and rushing sounds of people pouring onto the rooftop behind them.
Ellie screamed. "She's going to jump! What the fuck? Suicide was the last thing I expected from anyone in this school."
Instead of helping out, they all brought their phones out and went live on the website.
Raine's eyes snapped open as she turned slightly.
"What the hell—?"
But it was too late to make everyone believe she wasn't planning to die. I mean, why the fuck would she? When she hasn't found her mother or paid her father back for his cruelty?
