Still, that didn't change the fact that something about Rebecca felt… off. Strange. Unsettling. Every word she'd spoken carried a weight, like she was making it clear she had the upper hand in this meeting before it even happened. Abigail didn't like it.
The only explanation she could accept right now was that Rebecca was someone important to Jerry maybe in business, maybe in something personal that had nothing to do with romance, and she was just using that importance as an excuse to act bossy, to take advantage of the situation. That, Abigail decided, was the most logical answer.
That was all she could think of right now.
Jerry was sitting in his car, scrolling through a few pending messages on his phone, when suddenly the screen lit up with an incoming call. The name made him pause, it was his friend. They hadn't spoken in a while, and for him to be calling out of the blue felt unusual. Without hesitation, Jerry swiped to answer.
