Hearing Michael Linton say he wanted to meet and discuss something, Aiden Taylor became even more certain of the importance and urgency of the matter. Without any hesitation, he immediately agreed.
"What's going on?"
Harriet White came in from outside holding a glass of milk and saw Aiden Taylor fully dressed as if he were going out. Since she hadn't been in the room earlier, she was unaware of the call from Michael Linton.
Seeing him going out so late, and not knowing the situation, she thought something urgent and significant had happened. Her hand unconsciously tightened around the cup.
Aiden Taylor noticed Harriet's tightening grip on the cup. After being married to her for over thirty years, how could he not see that she was worried about him?
"Nothing's happened. Michael just called me, said he couldn't sleep and asked me to join him for a drink." Not wanting to worry her any further or to be bombarded with questions, he told her a kind lie.
"Michael's back?"
"Yeah."
