The search went on for over thirty minutes. But nothing was found—no sign of poison, no hidden clues, nothing at all. The air in the room felt heavier with each moment of silence. Lord Rowland finally turned to me and suggested we head to Prince Elvin's room next. He believed there was a chance something might be hidden there too.
I felt a wave of guilt rush over me. Prince Elvin had already been through enough. To drag him into this now felt unfair. I quickly suggested that I speak to him first, and if there was any need to search his room, then they could do so afterward.
"Searching the prince's room right now is not good for his health," I told Lord Rowland firmly. "He's still trying to recover from everything, especially from knowing that his own mother left him when he needed her most. I don't want him waking up to the sight of guards turning his room upside down over something she probably never told him about."
