Tears welled up uncontrollably in Mabel's eyes as she walked to the box, opened it, and saw its contents: exquisite jewelry, finely crafted silk bed linens, and a pair of delicate red embroidered shoes. There was also a Buddhist scripture, obviously well-thumbed and yellowed with age — clearly a relic of some years.
"This is the Buddhist Scripture your Granny Taylor often read," Edward's voice came, "All these things were left for you by Granny Taylor, including 5% of the Quinn Group shares in her name, to be inherited by you," Edward said.
Mabel was taken aback; if the box of wedding gifts Granny had left her was already beyond her expectations, then the shares were simply unimaginable.
