Chapter 103: Dark Demon Tries to Become a Detective
"Looks like it worked?"
"They don't seem to have noticed this is the hypnotic effect of the Goodnight Potion."
"After all, they're first-years."
"First-years are great!"
Seeing Virt and Robert actually fall for it, Cuttlefish and Pufferfish were almost moved to tears.
But after experiencing multiple failures, they had also grown.
Cuttlefish managed to suppress the urge to rush out and grabbed Pufferfish, saying, "No, we need to be more careful, we can't fail at the last moment."
Then he took out a new magic spirit card from his card case and said in a sinister voice, "First-years don't have the awareness to hide cards on their bodies yet. As long as we take their card cases, they'll be lambs to the slaughter."
"Well said, I'm in." Pufferfish stepped back and also took out a magic spirit card.
Immediately after, two small-sized magic spirits emerged from their respective magic cards.
Then, seizing the opportunity, they shot out abruptly.
Cuttlefish's magic spirit was a Water Monkey, while Pufferfish's magic spirit was a Fat Rat.
Both magic spirits were extremely fast, bursting out suddenly, difficult to see with the naked eye.
Caught off guard, Robert had no reaction as the strap of the card case hanging from his waist was cut by the Water Monkey's claws, and it was instantly snatched away!
The Fat Rat made the same move, but Virt suddenly sidestepped. The Fat Rat's claws failed to cut the strap and instead tore a huge gash in the card case.
Virt's magic cards scattered out.
Among them were his House Card, [Mystic Beast: Stag Beetle], [Troll], and several other newly made magic cards.
The moment the cards fell, Virt's mind instantly cleared, and he lunged fiercely towards the [Troll] card that had flown out!
But a black shadow suddenly flashed before him, sending the [Troll] card flying!
Seeing the action fail, Pufferfish had already rushed out with his other magic spirit, [Pufferfish Man].
The [Pufferfish Man], with two hairy legs, shot barbs from its body, preventing Virt from picking up the cards.
"Who... it's you again!"
Virt's gaze swept past Pufferfish, instantly fixing on Cuttlefish who had just walked out from the corner.
"So what if it's me?"
Cuttlefish slowly walked out, followed by the enormous [Three-Eyed Cuttlefish].
Virt felt an unprecedented surge of anger: "Don't you forget who let you go before!"
Cuttlefish said gloomily, "Of course I remember. Every bruise on my body remembers! Even if you let me go to avoid being confined, it cannot wash away the great humiliation you inflicted upon me! Son of the Hero, you will fall into the abyss with your follower!"
Virt's eyes flashed, and he couldn't help but think of the book "Into the Abyss."
He moved his hand behind his back, and [Forbidden Love] slid out from a hidden compartment in his sleeve.
Watching Cuttlefish draw closer, he fiercely swiped [Forbidden Love] in front of him and roared, "The abyss doesn't welcome you!"
The pink mist that emerged from [Forbidden Love] condensed into the silhouette of a woman, instantly pouncing on the enormous [Three-Eyed Cuttlefish]!
As the [Three-Eyed Cuttlefish]'s three eyes turned into heart shapes, Virt was overjoyed!
Cuttlefish himself, however, was completely unaware until his own [Three-Eyed Cuttlefish] used its tentacles to lift him up. Only then did his expression change drastically, and he cried out in panic, "Pufferfish, save me!"
A delighted smile appeared on Virt's face, and he immediately directed the Three-Eyed Cuttlefish to attack the other person.
He himself took the opportunity to pick up the cards.
However, just as he bent down, dozens of barbs shot out in unison, pinning the ground around his feet!
Pufferfish glanced at Cuttlefish, who was bound by his own magic spirit, and couldn't help cursing, "Useless!"
From initially following Cuttlefish's lead to now confirming his uselessness, Pufferfish had gone through a long psychological journey.
With almost no hesitation, he manipulated his [Pufferfish Man] to fire countless spikes at the [Three-Eyed Cuttlefish]!
Each of those spikes carried black venom, and almost all of them pierced the [Three-Eyed Cuttlefish]'s body!
The [Three-Eyed Cuttlefish] stubbornly ran a few steps forward, but the pufferfish toxin in its body flared up, causing it to stiffen and vomit a large amount of poisonous ink.
...
"No!"
Virt, never imagining Scott's [Three-Eyed Cuttlefish] would be so useless, his expression changed drastically.
Scott, having broken free from the [Three-Eyed Cuttlefish]'s binding, immediately shrieked, "Water Monkey!"
The Water Monkey, with its extremely long arms, looked up and shot out a stream of water.
Virt hurriedly raised his arms to block the water stream but was still forced back rapidly by the impact.
The magic cards on the ground were also washed away by the water.
Robert, only now somewhat regaining his senses, subconsciously grabbed a magic card that had washed up beside him.
Without thinking, he threw the magic card to Virt: "Virt, catch!"
Virt, overjoyed upon hearing this, caught it with a backhand. His aura surged, and he roared, "Magic Summon!"
A few seconds later, the light released from the magic card materialized.
A creamy-yellow furball fell.
The furball landed on the ground with a "thud," stuck out a very long, thin pink tongue, subconsciously licked the water on the ground, and made a cute sound.
This was the magic spirit Virt had hastily made with materials from the 10-credit shop—Puffskein!
"No!"
Virt's and Robert's desperate roars echoed in the corridor once more.
...
Dark Demon, who was walking in this direction, vaguely heard some noise.
He sniffed the air, called DemiDevimon, and quickly rushed over.
But when he arrived, only a puddle of water and a few magic cards soaked in it remained in the corridor by the secret passage entrance.
"Go, investigate."
Dark Demon didn't step out rashly but, as always, sent DemiDevimon to scout ahead.
Only after DemiDevimon had flown a circle and returned did he walk towards the puddle and pick up the few magic cards from the water.
[Mystic Beast: Stag Beetle], [Troll], [Mana Potion] X2.
A little further away, there was also a [Puffskein].
A total of five magic cards.
"Stag Beetle, Troll, aren't these Virt Gold's magic cards? How did they end up here?"
Dark Demon followed the remaining water trail and looked towards the wall.
He hesitated, "Did they go into the secret passage?"
...
Dark Demon began his analysis.
"From the way the magic cards are scattered on the ground, Virt probably didn't enter the secret passage willingly."
"Was he forced in? Or has he already been captured?"
"His vigilance is very strong; he shouldn't be captured so easily, right?"
"These magic cards were most likely dropped after an ambush."
"But Robert's cards aren't among them. They're always together; perhaps they still have some fighting power?"
"Ultimately, are their opponents ghosts or people?"
"They couldn't have been forced into a dead end by ghosts, could they?"
"So finally, should I get involved in this or not?"
...
