"Where's Riven?"
Xavier asked the sleepy lion-man slumped against a tree, drool threatening to escape from the corner of his mouth. He looked half-asleep, his golden mane glinting lazily in the sunlight. His hair waved in the wind, he looked... Well, he looked like Sleeping Beauty.
Xavier frowned. Did this lion have any sense of awareness? If danger came knocking, this idiot would probably hand it a pillow and a blanket.
The lion cracked one eye open and mumbled, "He, uh… He was talking to some guy."
"Some guy?" Xavier's eyebrow shot up. Riven was talking to some random man? That never ended well. Did Riven want more trouble? This was bad, more competition for his master? He'd better check it out before things escalated.
He followed the faint sound of voices until he spotted them near the mouth of an alley.
