"I don't even know what a mate is!" Bob had to stop himself from screaming. He wasn't a screamer by nature, but something about this bizarre wolf-eared stranger and the growing feeling that he was in over his head was making his voice hit new octaves.
Riven sighed deeply, the kind of sigh you give when someone tells you they've never seen art, real art, before. "Do you know what the omegaverse is?"
Bob blinked. His storm-grey eyes went round with confusion, and his freckled face scrunched in a way that Riven—against his will—had to admit was annoyingly cute.
"I don't think so," Bob said after a moment. "What is it? Is it… A verse from a religious text?"
That almost made Riven choke. "Oh, boy. Ohhh, boy." He was grinning now, a slightly feral glint in his eyes. "You are in for a treat. Where do I even begin?"
