Chapter 6 - Share Your Thoughts!

A Moment to Reflect

Even though there are only five chapters out, I want to take a moment to hear from those of you who have been reading. Your feedback, theories, and thoughts mean a lot—not just for improving the story, but for understanding what stands out to you, what you're enjoying, and what you'd like to see explored further.

So far, we've been introduced to a world swallowed by darkness for 219 years, where Wave determines everything. The wealthy control access to light, using it as a tool to keep the lower class in their place. Those in the slums have no power over Wave, no means of controlling light or bending the world to their will. Instead, they are forced into hard labor, living under the rule of those who dictate when and where light can exist.

Much of the story has been centered around Samael and his life in the slums. He works under brutal conditions, digging endlessly with no real purpose beyond survival. Unlike others, he doesn't seem to yearn for freedom or change. He exists in a state of detachment, moving through life with little emotion or care for the world around him. Yet, there's something different about him—something even he doesn't fully understand.

This chapter is a check-in—an opportunity to reflect on what's been revealed so far and to hear what you think. Since the story is unfolding piece by piece, I'd love to know:

What are your thoughts on the story so far?

Does the world feel immersive?

Are there aspects that stand out to you?

How do you feel about Samael as a character?

His perspective is different from most, and his detached nature isn't typical for a protagonist. (Or it is depending on what you read.)

Do you find him compelling?

Are you interested in learning more about him?

Do you have any theories about the world or where the story is headed?

One of the biggest mysteries so far is Wave. It is the force that shapes society, determining power and status. Only those born into the right bloodlines—people from powerful families, nobles, and those in high-ranking positions—can control it. Those in the slums have no ability to wield it, no access to the light that defines their rulers.

The mine manager is an example of this divide. He is not from the slums, yet he is thrown into the mines because he holds little power in The Length District. But he still holds complete authority over the miners. With his Wave, he controls the light underground, deciding when the workers can see and when they are left in total darkness. His power is a direct extension of the world's hierarchy, those with Wave rule, and those with Wave rule under the stronger and richer Wave users.

And then there's Samael.

We've seen that he experiences the world differently. He wears a blindfold, not because he is blind, but because sight holds no meaning for him. Even when Wave is active, he cannot see color. He moves through the world using vibrations, sensing the movements around him in ways others cannot. But why?

There have been hints that something about him is different, but the answers have yet to be revealed. His ability, or lack of one, sets him apart from everyone else, and while he may not care now, the truth of what he is will inevitably come to light.

For those who like to speculate, here are some questions to think about:

What do you think the true nature of Wave is?

Why does the world's ruling class fear letting others' access it?

What really happened in the past to create a world where darkness has ruled for centuries?

So far, the story has been focused on the slums and the mines, showing the harsh reality of life for those without power. The story has even touched on the lemmings Household, showing off The Length District and how one of their families live. But there is more to this world—other places, other people, and secrets that have yet to be uncovered.

This is a great time to share your thoughts, ask questions, or discuss theories. Whether you've been reading since the beginning or just started now, I appreciate you being here! Your feedback helps shape the story's direction, and I'd love to hear what you think!

Drop a comment, share your theories, or let me know your thoughts. I'm excited to hear what's on your mind!
