After Yahiko was resurrected, Nagato's energy returned in full force.
He had waited eagerly—looking forward to the stars, the moon, and finally, the person he missed day and night.
Nagato stared at Yahiko, grinning like a fool. Konan supported the two of them as they walked. Yahiko glanced at Nagato with a hint of unease and muttered, "Konan, is this guy mentally ill? Forget it, find me another room. With the way he's looking at me, I'm afraid my ass is going to be in danger."
Konan chuckled softly, while Nagato pouted in protest. "What are you even thinking? Who do you take me for? I'm just happy, alright? Can't you understand that?"
"I don't see it," Yahiko responded bluntly.
As they turned the corner and walked down the corridor, they arrived at Nagato's room. Konan helped both of them inside, closed the door, and the three began reminiscing and catching up on everything that had happened since Yahiko's death.
Elsewhere, Naruto stretched out his limbs, still sore after the intense chakra consumption.
"Hmph! All you know is how to waste my chakra all day long."
Hearing that grumpy voice, Naruto smirked. His consciousness drifted into the depths of his mindscape—the place where the Nine Tails resided.
Facing the massive gate that used to seal Kurama, Naruto frowned and grumbled, "Oi, Kurama, are you out of your damn mind? Back when the seal was in place, you used to slam yourself into this door every day."
He pointed dramatically at the now open gate. "And now that I've released it for you, what's with this nonsense? I leave it slightly open for you every day, and you're still giving me crap. Something wrong with that overgrown fox brain of yours?"
"You mind your own business," Kurama growled, lifting its head and scratching at its neck with a claw.
Naruto rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Keep being a tsundere."
Suddenly recalling something, Naruto pushed the door open and stepped inside without hesitation.
Kurama's eyes narrowed. "Did you ask for permission before barging in? Ever heard of boundaries?"
Naruto pointed at Kurama, fuming. "You really need two slaps to the face! Back when I had you sealed, you dragged me in here every other day to try and eat me. Now you're whining about boundaries?"
In his annoyance, Naruto gave the door a heavy kick.
Kurama bared its fangs. "The hell are you doing, brat? You dare kick my door? I swear, I'll maul you!"
Naruto shot back with a shrug, "You're still living inside my belly. As the landlord, I can kick my own door if I damn well please."
Kurama huffed. "It's not like I'm freeloading. How do you plan on repaying all the chakra you've used? Think about it—every time you go off reviving someone or pulling some nonsense, I have to spend half a day regenerating just to support you!"
Naruto chuckled shamelessly. "Hahaha! C'mon, Kurama, who's freeloading off who here? You're clearly bored and just want someone to talk to."
Kurama lay down again, tail flicking in irritation. "Don't flatter yourself. I'm not lonely, and I don't want to chat with you."
Naruto nodded knowingly. That was Kurama's usual grumpy act. He stared at the fox and said, "I resurrected my dad, you must've seen it, right?"
Kurama had its eyes closed but twitched slightly at the mention.
"I saw it," Kurama muttered. "So what?"
Naruto narrowed his eyes. "Don't you have something you want to tell me?"
Kurama's mind flashed back to the time of Hashirama Senju—how that man had picked him up like a damn kitten. The memory alone made Kurama bristle with irritation.
"No. If you've got nothing else to say, get the hell out."
Naruto snorted. "My dad has the Yin half of your chakra sealed inside him. You really don't want to talk about that?"
Kurama's eyes snapped open. He stared hard at Naruto and slowly grinned.
Kurama had already accepted the truth—that Naruto was a time traveler from the future. The images, the aura of the Sage of Six Paths, and the knowledge Naruto possessed couldn't be faked. But still, this Kurama hadn't gone through those experiences with Naruto yet.
In his previous life, Kurama had watched Naruto fight recklessly to save all the tailed beasts, risking his life time and again. It was then that Kurama had truly accepted him—not as a jinchūriki, but as a comrade, a friend.
From that point on, Kurama had ceased resisting the chakra exchange and offered his chakra freely, endlessly.
Now, Kurama looked at Naruto with a calculating smile. "What? What are you planning now?"
Naruto grinned. "I've shown you the future, haven't I? The stronger I become, the more control I'll have over it. In the previous life, you and I defeated the other tailed beasts together. Hell, even Gyūki was on our side. If we can merge the Yin half of you—sealed in my dad—with the Yang half inside me, your power would skyrocket. Mine too."
Kurama chuckled darkly. "That's the Yin half we're talking about. You're not worried the hatred might devour you?"
"Devour me?" Naruto scoffed like it was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard. At first, he chuckled. Then he trembled. Then he burst into a full-blown cackle, laughing up at the sky with defiance in his eyes.
Kurama blinked, taken aback. He had watched this boy grow up, had known every facet of his being. Yet, in this moment, Naruto seemed like a stranger.
After a long laugh, Naruto met Kurama's gaze. "Compared to everything I've been through... what's the hatred of your Yin half supposed to do to me?"
Kurama growled, "Don't be so full of yourself, brat. I've lived for centuries. The hatred of shinobi is embedded in my chakra—especially the Yin half. That's pure negativity."
Naruto waved a hand dismissively. "My dad subdued it. As his son, I'm not going to fall short. Besides, you saw the memories I showed you. The Yin half and I fought side-by-side in my previous life."
Kurama went silent for a long while.
Finally, he sighed. "Alright. What do you want me to do?"
Naruto beamed. "Haha! That's more like it. Time to bring out my nine trump cards."
Kurama snorted. "Just ask when you need my help, idiot."
Naruto nodded. "Yin and Yang unification—you know what to do."
Kurama raised an eyebrow. "Naturally. But do you know how to extract the Nine Tails from the Fourth Hokage?"
Naruto smirked arrogantly. "Just reach out and grab it."
Meanwhile, in Amegakure, atop the tower hidden in the rain...
The Four Hokage sat in a row, chatting non-stop since the previous night. Time had flown by as they discussed techniques, history, and memories of their respective eras.
Suddenly, Minato twitched and sneezed—twice.
"Achoo! ACHOO!"
Tobirama turned to him with a frown. "A reincarnated body using the Impure World Reincarnation shouldn't experience any physical discomfort. Why are you sneezing?"
Minato scratched the back of his head in confusion. "I don't know... but my nose suddenly feels really sore."
