Just like Mike said, the storage room Karlos found was dilapidated. Walls cracked. Roof collapsed in places. Moss everywhere. Documents half-burned and scattered.
"Why did Barbara leave this to Penelope and not Berlin?" Karlos asked, leaning against a rotting bookshelf.
"Teammates," Mike answered. "I don't know the exact reason. But when I first heard about this place years ago, it was already abandoned."
"So what kind of information is here?"
Mike's jaw tightened. "Berlin's past. Her real past."
Karlos turned to face him fully. "Explain."
"When I was working for Penelope, she had me watch over this place," Mike said. "One day, I found an old woman here. She seemed lost but kept finding her way back. I started talking to her. Realized she had... problems. Mental health issues."
Mike walked to the broken window, staring out at nothing.
"One day she collapsed on the street. I brought her to the hospital. Stayed with her." His voice went quiet. "Until she died."
