Brandon ended the call with a slow exhale and lowered the phone from his ear.
Guilt shimmered quietly behind his calm eyes.
He sat in silence for a moment and the sound of footsteps broke the silence.
Ravene stepped into the hall and looked at Brandon sitting on the couch, "Brandon, come on, let's eat dinner. Elize made something light."
He nodded slowly. "Alright,"
Eira stirred slightly in his lap with her hands clutching him.
He reached out with his free hand and gently brushed a loose strand of hair behind Eira's ear.
Eira looked up at him quietly.
Brandon showed a small smile and leaned forward to press a soft kiss to her forehead.
She closed her eyes at the touch, as if absorbing the comfort he offered.
"…Was that Dhayun?" she asked and her voice was muffled against the fabric of his shirt.
Brandon nodded. "Yeah… I told her I'd come see her tonight. But… everything that happened…"
