Chapter 245 - Chapter 244: Naruto vs Neji

---Konoha Stadium---

The arena was a cauldron of noise. Thousands of spectators crammed into the stands—civilians, shinobis, nobles from various lands, and tourists who had come to witness the next generation of killers.

Flags waved, vendors shouted, and the tension was thick enough to cut with a kunai.

In the VIP box, the atmosphere was cordial on the surface, but venomous underneath.

Hiruzen Sarutobi sat in his chair, his Hokage robes billowing slightly in the wind. To his right sat the "Kazekage," Rasa.

"It is a pleasure to see you, Lord Kazekage," Hiruzen said, his voice level. "The journey must have been tiring."

Rasa... or rather, Orochimaru in a skin suit... nodded slowly, his eyes hidden behind the veil of his hat. "It was... eventful. But I wouldn't miss this. Konoha's young leaves are always entertaining to watch wither or bloom."

"Let us hope for blooming," Hiruzen replied with a grandfatherly smile, though his eyes were hard as flint.

Leaning against the wall just behind Hiruzen's chair was Alaric. He was smoking casually, ignoring the glare of the Kazekage's bodyguards. He knew exactly who was under those robes. He knew the invasion plans. He knew everything. And right now, he was just enjoying the dramatic irony.

Down in the arena floor, Genma Shiranui stood with a senbon in his mouth, looking bored.

"Welcome, everyone, to the final round of the Chunin Exams!" Genma's voice was amplified by chakra, booming through the stadium.

The crowd roared.

In the contestant waiting area, Haku stood calmly, his arms crossed. He glanced up at the stands, spotting a familiar figure.

Hayate Gekko was leaning against a railing in the upper tiers, coughing slightly but very much alive. In the original timeline, he would be a corpse by now, slain by Baki. But here, the butterfly effect of Alaric's presence... and perhaps the heightened security... had kept him breathing.

"First match!" Genma shouted, checking his clipboard. "Neji Hyuga vs. Naruto Uzumaki!"

Neji walked into the center of the arena, his expression calm and arrogant. He looked like a statue carved from ice.

Silence followed.

"Naruto Uzumaki?" Genma called again.

Nothing.

The crowd began to murmur. Boos started to rain down.

"Is he scared?"

"Did he run away?"

"Disqualify him!"

Genma sighed, scratching his head. "Well, if he's not here..."

BAM!

The heavy wooden doors of the stadium entrance flew open with a resounding crash. A cloud of dust billowed out.

"I'M HEEEEERE!"

Naruto came skidding into the arena, tripping over his own feet and tumbling face-first into the dirt. He scrambled up, dusting himself off, looking frantic. "Don't disqualify me! I was... uh... chasing a bull! A really fast bull!"

The crowd erupted into laughter. Even Hiruzen cracked a smile.

"Just get in position," Genma muttered.

"Alright!"

'This nuisance is wasting my time...' Neji stared at Naruto, who was getting to the stage, with his Byakugan activated, the veins around his eyes bulging. "You should have stayed away, failure. Destiny cannot be changed by being loud."

"Shut up with the destiny crap!" Naruto shouted, getting into a stance that was surprisingly solid. "I'm gonna beat you and prove you wrong!"

"Begin!"

Neji moved instantly. He was a blur of Gentle Fist strikes. Palm. Palm. Palm.

But Naruto didn't just charge in blindly like he had in the preliminaries.

Poof!

Neji struck a Shadow Clone. The real Naruto had slid underneath, aiming a sweep kick at Neji's ankles. Neji jumped, surprised, but countered mid-air with a chakra blast from his palm.

"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Dozens of Narutos filled the arena. They didn't just mob Neji; they coordinated. Three grabbed Neji's arms, two went for the legs, while the real Naruto launched himself from above.

"Rotation!" Neji spun. A blue dome of chakra repelled the clones, destroying them instantly.

But as the dome faded, Naruto was already weaving signs. "I'm not done!"

The fight dragged on, far more brutal than anyone expected. Neji landed 64 Palms, sealing Naruto's chakra points. Naruto collapsed, seemingly finished.

"Proctor," Neji turned to Genma. "Call it."

"Not... yet..."

Naruto stood up, his legs shaking. He closed his eyes. He didn't just ask the Fox for rent; he demanded it. Red chakra bubbled to the surface, healing his wounds, forcing his pathways open with brute force. The sheer pressure cracked the ground beneath him.

"What is that chakra?" Neji stepped back, fear flickering in his pale eyes.

"This," Naruto growled, his eyes slitted and red, "is the power to change destiny!"

They clashed again. The speed was blinding. Red chakra vs. Blue chakra. Raw power vs. Absolute technique.

Neji, pushed to his limit, prepared his ultimate defense. "You cannot break my Rotation!"

He spun, creating a massive, impenetrable sphere of kaiten.

Naruto charged. But he didn't punch.

"Shadow Clone!"

One clone appeared beside Naruto as he ran. The clone began to swirl chakra into Naruto's palm. It wasn't raw, chaotic energy. It was contained. It was spinning. It was a sphere of pure destruction.

Up on the balcony, Alaric's cigar almost fell from his mouth. His eyes widened.

'No way...' Alaric thought. 'That's the Rasengan. He shouldn't know that yet. Jiraiya teaches him that after the invasion, while looking for Tsunade.'

Naruto leaped. The blue sphere in his hand roared like a jet engine.

"TAKE THIIIIIS!"

Naruto slammed the Rasengan directly into Neji's Rotation.

GRIND.

The sound was screeching metal. The Rotation wobbled. The spinning sphere of chakra dug into the spinning dome of chakra. Friction vs. Friction.

'Impossible.' Neji thought. His rotation was absolute. Perfect. He had followed every rule... trained harder, mastered every form, accepted the limits carved into him at birth. And yet... 'Why… is he still coming?'

Neji could see it... Naruto's face... it wasn't calm. It wasn't refined. It was raw, furious, alive.

'If destiny cannot be changed… then why does my body tremble?'

"BREAK!" Naruto roared.

SHATTER!

The Rasengan tore through the Rotation. The impact blasted Neji backward, skipping him across the dirt like a stone until he slammed into the wall, unconscious.

Naruto landed, the red chakra fading, the blue sphere dissipating. He panted, standing over the fallen prodigy.

The stadium went dead silent.

Then, pure chaos erupted. Cheers deafened the ears.

"What was that jutsu!?"

"He broke the Rotation!"

In the waiting area, Haku blinked, his mask hiding his shock. "I calculated that Neji had a 90% chance of victory based on technical skill. But that final technique... it condensed chakra to a point of singularity. It rendered the defense obsolete."

Haku looked at Naruto with new respect. "Unpredictable."

---The VIP Box---

"Ho..." Hiruzen leaned forward, his eyes shining with pride. "That boy... he really is full of surprises. That was the Fourth's technique."

He turned to Alaric. "Did you see that coming, Alaric? I assume your 'business' intel told you about this?"

Alaric recovered from his surprise quickly, a smirk returning to his face. He took a drag of his cigar.

"I knew he would win," Alaric replied smoothly. "Indra and Asura don't like to lose to anyone but each other."

"Indra? Asura?" Hiruzen raised a brow.

"Old legends," Alaric waved it off. "But learning the Rasengan this early... maybe Jiraiya actually taught him something useful during the month break instead of just peeping."

Alaric looked down at the orange-clad boy celebrating.

'Or maybe,' Alaric thought, 'the kid is just smarter than we give him credit for. Or Asura's transmigrant chakra is reacting to the accelerated timeline.'

He chuckled, blowing smoke toward the fake Kazekage. "Either way, it was a hell of a show."

"Rasa" said nothing, but his grip on the armrest tightened slightly. This wasn't in the script. Naruto was supposed to be a nuisance, not a threat.

Down in the arena, Genma checked Neji. He was out cold.

"Winner: Naruto Uzumaki!"

Naruto cheered, waving to the crowd, before running up to the stands to brag to Sakura.

Genma cleared the arena, watching the medics on their way to take Neji away from the area.

As the med-nin lifted him onto the stretcher, Neji's fingers curled weakly against his chest.

Against the mark he had never questioned.

The crowd roared for Naruto Uzumaki. Neji closed his eyes. For the first time in his life… destiny felt uncertain.

Genma looked at his list. The crowd buzzed with anticipation for the next match... the Uchiha vs. The Monster of the Sand.

"Alright, settle down!" Genma shouted.

He looked up at the waiting area.

"Next match! Sasuke Uchiha vs. Gaara of the Sand!"
