Chapter 56. This Is What High Attack, Low Defense Is Like
"I can call you Mei, and you can call me Elysia."
"Of course, Elysia."
Mei sat on the chair and replied gently.
After finishing with Sirin and Kiana, Elysia turned her gaze to Mei, who was quietly smiling off to the side.
She wasn't as excited as Sirin meeting her idol, nor was she a lovestruck fool like Kiana upon seeing a beautiful girl.
She simply sat there, smiling at everyone.
"What is it?"
Seeing Elysia staring at her, Mei asked in mild confusion.
"It's nothing.
I just feel like we can become very, very good friends."
Hearing this, Mei tilted her head, then blossomed into a smile.
"What a coincidence.
I seem to have the same hunch."
"What about me, what about me!"
Kiana leaned in, unwilling to be left out, with Sirin at her side looking up full of expectation.
"Aren't we all already friends?
I like everyone a lot."
Within minutes, Elysia had become the center of the little circle.
She was still the same as ever—so dazzling that everyone couldn't help but focus their eyes on her.
Watching from afar, Bronya sighed inwardly.
Can't win—there's just no way to win this.
Unless she really pulled Seele into it…
By the time everyone came back to their senses, breakfast had already begun.
No one knew if Elysia had been suffering in her place over there, but when she tasted the food made by Seele and Mei, she was moved to near tears.
"Finally, finally I don't have to eat those fried chips and vegetables anymore, sob sob…"
Only then did everyone suddenly remember that this place was something of a gathering point for "dark cuisine."
Stargazy pie was simply too famous.
They all turned to Elysia with looks of pity.
"Then why not live in another country?
Like coming to where we are.
It'd be close enough that you could mooch meals at Xander's place every day."
Kiana's offhand remark made Bronya suck in a sharp breath.
She already felt like she couldn't win at this distance.
If Elysia lived near them too, she might as well wave a white flag and surrender.
"Well, even Miss Pink Elf has all kinds of things to worry about."
For example, the orphanage that raised her, and all sorts of affairs over there.
Besides, Xander hasn't even graduated high school yet, so they can't register a marriage.
She was in no rush.
That finally let Bronya, who had been quietly listening, breathe a sigh of relief.
"I see.
The adult world really is troublesome."
With a little sigh, Kiana buried her face back in her bowl.
The minute hand on the wall clock made another lap, and soon Kiana's pained wail echoed through the living room.
Clearly, it was sunscreen time again.
Xander looked toward Seele and Bronya.
Bronya had just been about to turn her head away in a huff when she noticed Seele scooting over with eager eyes, which left her full of exasperation.
Seele, where is your backbone!!
Then Elysia came bustling over with a bottle of sunscreen too, even chatting and laughing with Seele.
Not just spineless—did you defect on the spot?!!!
Seeing this, Bronya could neither leave nor stay.
In the end, she could only sigh helplessly and walk toward Xander.
If it's going to be like this, then she might as well enjoy it.
Unlike yesterday, today they were in the living room, so it was just a simple application on the back.
But even so, when Xander's hands touched Elysia's fair, exposed back, her irresistible, enticing low moan made him shiver all over.
Sis, this is the living room—everyone's watching!
Fortunately, Elysia still cared about her beautiful-girl image.
After that one cry, she buried her face in the sofa and kept quiet.
Unlike every time before when she would have the upper hand, this time Elysia was "under" Xander.
That different kind of stimulation—pinned beneath him and unable to resist—made her slip up and let a sound escape.
Once they got to the beach, Xander racked his brains to praise everyone's swimsuits all over again, and finally earned the right to rest on a beach chair.
He lay there on the chair, drinking cold juice.
The sea breeze brought coolness, the parasol shielded him from the blazing sun, and Seele stood behind him, gently kneading his shoulders and asking softly by his ear if he was comfortable.
His heart was instantly full of leisure.
This is life.
This is enjoyment.
He took another sip of juice, and his gaze followed the ball that kept leaping across the volleyball court.
As expected of Elysia.
Whether in her jumping or in the rolling surges, she easily crushed a few young girls.
Come to think of it, seeing Elysia blending in and laughing so happily already—was she really not planning to pull any stunts?
She even hung up on his call yesterday.
Xander had thought she was going to make a big move.
Looks like he really could let down his guard… Hiss—!!
A stab of pain in his shoulder made him suck in a sharp breath, splashing a bit of juice onto the sand.
"Se—Seele?"
He turned his head in confusion, only to meet a pair of "nuclear-kind" eyes.
"If you won't look at Seele, fine.
But you sure seem to be enjoying watching those women."
He immediately understood that Seele's inside had been swapped out.
They were still the same sky-blue eyes, but for a moment Xander seemed to see a crimson gleam flash through them.
"I was watching their volleyball match."
"You'd better be watching the volleyball."
Arms crossed, "Seele" said with disdain.
"Alright, alright, I won't look.
From now on I'll only look at Seele.
That should work, right?"
As he spoke, Xander reached out to take Seele's arm, giving a gentle tug that drew her into his embrace.
Then he held her like that, meeting her eyes with a tender gaze.
Very quickly, the proud look on "Seele's" face melted.
She turned her head away, cheeks flushed, all awkward.
"D—don't keep staring at me… staring at Seele."
"That won't do.
I like Seele the most.
Of course…"
Xander leaned to her ear and, with a smile, said, "Of course, that includes you too, Seele~"
"!!!"
Veliona snapped her head around, face blazing as she stared at Xander, as if shocked that he'd say something like that.
"You, I… mm…"
That flustered, broken-guard shyness was too enticing.
Xander couldn't help but capture those moist, soft cherry lips.
Veliona's eyes slowly grew hazy, and her once-resisting hands turned to a compliant embrace.
When the breathless feeling came, they finally parted.
Seele lay soft against his chest, panting.
Her eyes had returned to that clear liveliness, and her brows and gaze were gentle again.
Veliona had fled.
"Seele, you're being naughty."
One hand hugged that smooth, slender waist, while the other gently teased her heaving lips.
Xander spoke in a joking tone.
"You clearly figured out long ago that I knew about the other Seele, but you never told her.
You really are a bad girl."
Seele's expression froze for a moment.
Then her cute little face crumpled.
"Brother, it's all your fault.
The other me isn't paying attention to Seele anymore."
