Ryan leaned against the kitchen doorway, watching Arianna gather her things with practiced speed.
He enjoyed being with her, he enjoyed being in love or even faking being in love for what he could gain from her.
Her bag slung over one shoulder, phone already buzzing in her hand, hair twisted up in a clip. She looked exhausted, but she was still focused. Always was.
"You sure you can't come?" he asked, voice smooth but laced with disappointment. He wanted to show off with her in his arms.
"It's a big event. My friend, an old time friend, is getting sworn in. The press will be there and we could use a photo together, you know power couple stuff and people can anticipate us."
Ryan smiled as he spoke, he wanted to convince her anyway possible, he wanted her to come.
Arianna gave a tight smile as she slid into her shoes.
"I really wish I could. I have too much to finish today. And I already know I will be late today."
