Chapter 578 - Chapter 578: A Merciful Doom

Noah tilted his head.

He genuinely didn't care about Kaecilius's strength.

Kaecilius's explosive power was already close to Eighth Order, which was admittedly surprising.

But to Noah, it was still far from enough.

With a casual wave, a faint golden glow enveloped him.

Just as Noah was about to flick his finger, he suddenly frowned.

Then relaxed.

The golden glow flowed freely, and in the next instant, the entire space twisted violently once more.

Kaecilius's room became the center point.

Everything around it spiraled inward like the gears of a clock.

Even the ground warped.

Kaecilius could barely keep his footing.

Only Noah remained unmoved.

He stood calmly, looking at Kaecilius with a faint smile.

Then-

Kaecilius lost sight of him.

Before he could react, a searing pain erupted behind him.

Noah had appeared at his back without warning.

Kaecilius endured the pain and slashed backward with his knife.

But before the blade could fall, his vision flashed.

He was transported again.

There was no dizziness.

Kaecilius was still an excellent Kamar-Taj sorcerer.

But Noah's casting speed was simply too fast.

So fast that resistance was meaningless.

It was as if Noah never needed preparation.

In the blink of an eye, without any perceptible magic flow, everything was already done.

"Damn it!"

That hellish heat surged again.

Kaecilius immediately tried to seize control of the Mirror Dimension.

The Mirror Dimension belonged to no one.

Or rather, it could belong to anyone.

Strange had once made the same mistake.

He had nearly dragged Mordo to death with him.

If the Ancient One hadn't arrived in time, that would have been the end of everything.

Noah was not that half-baked Strange.

He never was.

Noah was a top-tier sorcerer.

He would never allow such a thing to happen.

The moment Kaecilius's magic fluctuated, Noah understood his intent.

Without hesitation, Noah's magic surged again.

Kaecilius's expression darkened instantly.

He couldn't seize control.

He couldn't even manipulate a trace of spatial energy.

Noah's mastery of space crushed him completely.

Despair crept in.

Feeling the heat approaching, Kaecilius could only hurriedly erect a magic barrier behind him.

But in the next moment-

The heat vanished.

And reappeared in front of him.

There was no chance to respond.

Kaecilius was engulfed instantly.

Endless flames roared.

They burned as if they would incinerate him alive.

He couldn't resist.

He could barely even cast spells anymore.

Kaecilius sighed softly.

He knew he was finished.

He was no match for Noah.

Only now did he truly understand how far that boy he once bullied in physical combat lessons had gone.

There was unwillingness.

But no resentment.

Failure was failure.

If he couldn't even face that, then his life would amount to nothing.

Preserving the last shred of a sorcerer's dignity-

That was his final thought.

Then the flames began to fade.

Space shattered like broken glass.

The Mirror Dimension collapsed.

In the blink of an eye, Kaecilius found himself lying on the ground.

Exactly where he had been sitting before.

He hadn't moved.

Hadn't done anything.

Noah stood not far away, quietly watching him.

Behind Noah, a faint golden portal shimmered.

"You're too weak," Noah said calmly. "So weak that I have no interest in killing you."

"Cough... cough..." Kaecilius covered his chest and slowly sat up. "It's not that you don't want to."

"Someone told you not to. Didn't they?"

"Probably," Noah shook his head, not denying it. "Cherish this rare clarity, Kaecilius."

"No matter the outcome, you should understand the gap between us."

"I won't kill you this time."

"But next time, your death won't be pleasant."

"Perhaps," Kaecilius replied.

He didn't argue.

He knew Noah could do it.

This wasn't just defeat.

He knew Noah hadn't even used Dragon Blood.

That apocalyptic magic.

The flames that once bloomed over New York.

The power that erased countless aliens in an instant.

Noah glanced at him indifferently, then turned and walked into the portal.

It vanished as he stepped through.

When Noah appeared again, he was already in the Ancient One's room.

"Teacher," Noah greeted, then sat obediently across from her.

"You wanted to kill him," the Ancient One said as she poured tea. "I felt it."

"You really wanted to kill Kaecilius, didn't you?"

"Yes," Noah answered plainly. "I think playing games like this only makes things worse."

"He's going too far."

"If you hadn't contacted me, I would have made the killing move."

The Ancient One smiled.

She didn't deny it.

When Noah arrived at Kamar-Taj, he had already informed her.

And when he went to Kaecilius's room, she had already considered the outcome.

Although Noah didn't fully understand her reasoning, he didn't mind sparing Kaecilius for now.

In his eyes, Kaecilius was insignificant.

He was no longer the naive boy who had arrived at Kamar-Taj twenty years ago.

As for Dormammu?

Noah wasn't worried.

Before reaching Eleventh Order, the Ancient One could deal with him.

Let alone now.

And Noah knew how to handle him too.

With enough patience, he could disgust Dormammu into retreating.

"It does seem excessive," the Ancient One sighed. "His apprentice disturbed the mundane world with magic."

"That violates the laws."

"Your methods were cruel."

"But you upheld order."

Noah shrugged.

He didn't argue.

It was maintaining order.

He had been ruthless.

If he had reacted sooner, perhaps none of this would have happened.

Shaking his head, Noah asked directly, "Teacher, what do you think?"

"Dormammu..."

"Haven't you already figured it out?" the Ancient One sipped her tea. "And I've decided."

"Dormammu must come."

Noah tilted his head.

After a moment, he understood.

Kaecilius was easy to deal with.

People like him weren't rare.

But constantly wasting time on them wasn't efficient.

This was deterrence.

Kill the chicken.

Warn the monkeys.

Kaecilius was a Seventh-Order sorcerer.

A high-level one.

If he hadn't fallen, he could have become an Archmage.

A Kamar-Taj disciple.

A perfect negative example.

It would warn all sorcerers.

And establish authority for the future Sorcerer Supreme.

That was the internal reason.

Externally-

Dormammu wasn't a threat.

Crossing countless dimensions consumed him.

Now he faced a rogue Time Stone wielder.

And an Ancient One who rivaled him in strength.

No matter how it ended, Dormammu wouldn't leave unscathed.

Best case-

He fled in fury.

Worst case-

He was trapped.

Either way, other world-destroyers would think twice.

If Dormammu died here, this universe might enjoy peace for a long time.

Noah nodded and sipped his tea.

"I understand," he said. "I'll cooperate fully."

"That's good," the Ancient One smiled.

Then she sighed.

"It's a pity about Kaecilius. His talent was excellent."

"It's just..."

"Different choices," Noah replied calmly. "Of course, if-"

"I know," the Ancient One said. "That's why I didn't stop you."

"When you consulted King Odin."
