Chapter 576 - Chapter 576: You're Still Not There

Adam Lester felt like he was trapped in a nightmare.

A nightmare he couldn't wake from.

He never imagined that his wife had died by his own hands.

And in such a cruel, desperate way.

Adam wasn't an evil werewolf.

He'd been infected as a child, bitten by another werewolf.

Deep down, he was still human.

An ordinary man.

With ordinary secrets.

He'd always known that Casey had feelings for him.

But the one he loved was never Casey.

It was her sister.

Mia.

And now, Casey's love had driven him to kill the woman he loved most.

That truth crushed him.

No matter what happened next, Adam knew one thing.

He would never forgive himself.

Rage boiled inside him.

The urge for revenge devoured his thoughts.

But he couldn't move.

Not even a finger.

That damned exorcist's magic was unbearably unreliable.

Honestly, Adam would rather have been knocked out by that bastard called "Sherlock Holmes" with a single spell.

At least then he wouldn't have to stay awake.

Wouldn't have to face the truth.

A truth so horrifying it made him want to tear himself apart.

Then things changed.

Too quickly.

A sorcerer arrived.

Most likely the one who had caused him to kill his wife.

At that moment, Adam wanted nothing more than to stand up.

Even if he died.

Even if he was killed on the spot.

He wanted to bite this man.

Just once.

All he could do now was hope that the useless exorcist would be slightly more reliable.

But that hope shattered instantly.

Even though the exorcist's magic was weak, Adam found himself trapped.

Fully conscious.

Completely immobile.

He couldn't even open his eyes.

Couldn't twitch his nose.

And yet, he clearly felt it.

The exorcist was effortlessly subdued.

Dropped to the ground.

That alone filled Adam with despair.

Worse still, the sorcerer radiated malice.

Thick.

Oppressive.

Adam was helpless.

Utterly helpless.

Not even able to interfere.

Hatred flooded his mind.

Then-

He froze.

A soul-crushing presence drew closer.

Slowly.

"Cough... cough."

Strange lay on the ground, staring at the faint golden glow flickering across his chest.

He also saw the attacker's distorted, furious expression.

He understood.

He'd been saved.

The ring.

The ring his mentor had left him.

That was the only reason he was still alive.

Even so, he was injured.

The sorcerer's eyes were clearly damaged.

And that single attack told Strange something very clearly.

Sorcerers were terrifying.

"Damn it... why do you have his things?"

The sorcerer glared at Strange.

"How do you have them?"

"No. No."

"That's impossible!"

"Are you talking about my mentor... cough."

Strange coughed and slowly pushed himself upright.

"Noah Fennel."

"He's my mentor."

"I can tell-you're from Kamar-Taj."

"But you don't get along with him."

"And what you're doing?"

"It will get you punished."

"Punishment?" The sorcerer sneered.

"You people completely misunderstand how the world truly works."

"The world will eventually-"

"-become part of Dormammu."

"Like certain unlucky universes."

"Falling into darkness."

The fanatic never finished his sentence.

A calm voice interrupted him.

And in the next instant, his body began to tremble.

He knew who had arrived.

Space inverted.

Without warning.

Without sensation.

The world flipped.

They were now standing in an inverted realm.

Two figures stepped out of shattered space.

Noah.

And Nagini.

"Get up if you're not dead."

Noah glanced at Strange on the ground.

Then his gaze shifted.

Straight to Kaecilius's disciple.

"Tell me your name."

"Sorcerer."

"D-Dick... Dick Crouch."

The man swallowed hard.

"Master Sorcerer Noah."

"You're obedient." Noah nodded.

"That's good."

"So, Sorcerer Dick."

"I'll give you one chance."

"I gave your companion one."

"I told him I didn't want to waste time before killing him."

"This time, I'll make an exception."

"Tell me exactly what you've done."

"We... we were only buying materials," Crouch said quickly.

"Master Sorcerer Noah."

His body shook harder with every word.

His mentor had warned them repeatedly.

The most dangerous person in Kamar-Taj was Noah Fennel.

Crouch had studied magical history.

He knew exactly what kind of monster stood in front of him.

A genius.

An impossible one.

"What's going on...?"

Everett quietly slipped beside Strange.

"Sherlock."

"Who is that?"

"Shut up," Strange hissed.

He noticed Noah wasn't paying attention.

Then whispered, "He's my mentor."

"...Your mentor?"

Everett's eyes widened.

"So young?"

"You're joking."

"What do you think?" Strange rolled his eyes.

"Don't speculate."

"There are things you don't understand."

"Especially about sorcerers."

Everett looked at Noah.

Arms crossed.

Aura overwhelming.

Then nodded.

It was better not to guess.

You never knew what kind of monsters sorcerers were.

Adam, still lying on the floor, felt disbelief tear through him when he heard that name.

Noah.

He didn't care about sorcerer conflicts.

He didn't care about Kamar-Taj.

He only knew one thing.

He might finally get revenge.

Noah listened to Crouch's explanation.

He nodded calmly.

Even without the confession, Noah already knew.

He'd seen this story before.

Kaecilius's apprentices.

Their goal was simple.

Gather materials.

Summon Dormammu.

In theory, the ritual was just a spell.

In reality, it required preparation.

A lot of it.

Crouch didn't know the details.

And that made sense.

Kaecilius wouldn't explain everything to disposable pieces.

Noah had already checked his memories.

Crouch wasn't hiding anything.

He knew it was pointless.

"You're smarter than your companion," Noah said lightly.

"But you still don't know much."

"Kaecilius wouldn't tell you."

"I think so..." Crouch swallowed.

His legs were shaking.

"What about this werewolf family?" Noah continued.

"You killed them to silence them?"

"To control them better?"

"I-"

Crouch never finished.

His heart twisted.

Space itself crushed it.

Noah had never planned to let him live.

Strange and Everett swallowed hard.

They only saw Crouch's chest distort.

Then his body collapsed.

Dead.

Instantly.

The scene was too abrupt.

Too unreal.

Noah didn't care.

He looked at the werewolf on the ground and sighed.

Strange's magic really was half-baked.

The man hadn't been asleep at all.

Just paralyzed.

"Your level is still too low," Noah said calmly.

He tilted his head.

Then glanced at Everett.

"...Is this your new roommate?"

"Yes," Strange replied quickly.

"I'm sorry, Master."

"My magic is poor."

"Oh-this is John Watson."

If Noah hadn't had perfect self-control, he would've frozen.

He was stunned.

Just slightly.

He hadn't expected that after naming Strange "Sherlock Holmes," a "John Watson" would actually appear.

He shook his head and dropped the thought.

After waking the werewolf, Noah spoke again.

"Your spell was flawed."

"He was never asleep."

"What?" Strange stared at Adam, who was beginning to move.

Then at Casey, shaking uncontrollably.

"How is that possible..."

"Damn it..."

"You still have a lot to learn," Noah said flatly.

"Let's go."

"This is no longer our business."

"Advice."

"Don't meddle."

"If you do, finish it cleanly."

He paused.

"Oh."

"And Mr. Werewolf."

"We'll be waiting outside."

In the next moment, they were gone.

No explanation.

No delay.

A woman's scream echoed from the house.

Then the sound of tearing flesh.
