Following Adam Lestrange, Strange and Everett felt an indescribable unease.
Was that it?
Was it really this simple?
The feeling lingered, prompting the two to exchange glances.
Honestly, aside from failing to confirm that Adam Lestrange was a werewolf, everything else seemed resolved.
Completely resolved.
As for forcing Adam to reveal his true form?
That wasn't difficult.
As a magician, Strange had plenty of ways to deal with monsters.
He knew what werewolves feared.
With a bit of preparation, it could be done.
"Welcome, gentlemen detectives," Adam Lestrange said calmly, unaware of their thoughts. "Please wait in the living room. I'll prepare some tea."
"Thank you, Mr. Lestrange," Strange nodded. "I'm Holmes. Sherlock Holmes. This is my assistant, John Watson."
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Holmes. Mr. Watson." Adam forced a smile, then turned and walked toward the kitchen.
As the tall, well-mannered man left, Strange and Everett immediately began carefully observing the living room.
The layout was warm and tasteful.
Every detail gave off a strong sense of home.
It was obvious the couple valued comfort and quality of life.
Most importantly, it was clear they were deeply in love.
"If this isn't deliberate," Everett murmured, "then their relationship is almost unreal."
"Photos everywhere," he continued. "The most prominent wall. The cabinets. Even with the woman missing, everything's still there."
"And he cleans them often," Strange added quietly. "Not a speck of dust."
"If there weren't faint marks from long-term placement, I'd think this was staged."
They continued talking while examining the room.
Then the front door opened again.
A young woman entered.
She looked to be in her twenties, dressed fashionably.
"Adam, I'm here."
She only noticed Strange and Everett after changing her shoes.
Her expression shifted instantly.
"Who are you? Why are you here?"
"We-" Everett began.
Before he could finish, Adam emerged from the kitchen.
"You're here, Cathy?" he said. "They're detectives. Ms. Komiya hired them. You know how close she and Mia were."
"Mia left on her own, Adam," Cathy said softly, stepping closer to him.
Then she turned to Strange and Everett.
"Gentlemen detectives, I hope you can find my sister."
"Her disappearance has been a great blow to us all."
"Oh?" Strange looked at her. "Left?"
"How do you know she left voluntarily?"
"Otherwise?" Cathy replied calmly. "Murder? Then where's the body?"
"The police came. They checked the surveillance. Nothing was wrong."
"I see."
Strange said nothing more and sat down.
He knew the police had been here.
But something felt off.
Too many details didn't add up.
He glanced subconsciously at Everett.
The man sharing a name with that famous doctor seemed equally thoughtful.
Everett had noticed something too.
Probably more than Strange had.
After all, he was former CIA.
His observational skills weren't in doubt.
Still, now wasn't the time to ask.
Strange needed to talk to Adam properly.
After a simple but thorough conversation, Strange requested to see their bedroom.
Adam didn't refuse.
Under his guidance, they inspected the room carefully.
But in the end, they gained nothing.
The room was spotless.
Perfectly maintained.
Oppressively so.
Walking out of the house, Everett let out a breath.
"Those two really love each other," he said gloomily. "Everything screams intimacy."
"It's... unpleasant."
"That's true," Strange said, glancing at him. "Don't tell me you've never had a girlfriend?"
"I broke up. I'm single," Everett shrugged. "So this kind of thing irritates me."
"You're boring," Strange said, shaking his head.
But one thing was undeniable.
The Lestrange couple were deeply in love.
The bedroom arrangement showed stability.
The drawers contained condoms with recent purchase dates.
Some missing.
Their intimacy hadn't faded.
And most importantly-
There were no traces.
No scuffs.
No marks.
No blood.
Not even a hint of a smell.
That troubled Strange the most.
Was he wrong?
He couldn't imagine a murder happening in such a stable marriage.
He even began to doubt his own assumption.
Was Adam not the monster?
Or was someone else using the same perfume?
"By the way, Sherlock," Everett said suddenly. "Did you notice something?"
"What?"
"Cathy," Everett replied. "She has problems."
"Problems?" Strange thought. "You mean she likes her brother-in-law?"
"That's obvious," he added. "But they haven't slept together. He doesn't want to."
"Not that," Everett said, ignoring him. "When we introduced ourselves as detectives, her pupils contracted."
"She avoided eye contact."
"Then she moved straight to Adam's side."
"Fear response," Strange frowned.
"Yes," Everett nodded. "Fear. Nervousness. Even a desire to escape."
"But she adjusted quickly."
"Very quickly."
"Strange," Strange murmured.
The case was becoming murkier by the minute.
But Cathy's appearance gave Strange a direction.
One he needed to think through carefully.
While Holmes and Watson dug deeper into the case, Noah and Nagini quietly arrived in a valley in Yorkshire.
This was the base of the York Magic Guild.
Noah had been here once before.
Without announcing himself, he bypassed the spatial barrier and appeared directly in William Moore's office.
William was meditating, eyes closed.
Noah smiled.
A firebird lunged from an impossible angle.
It froze midair.
Then shattered.
"Is this how you greet an old friend, William?" Noah asked casually as he sat down with Nagini.
William stood immediately, bowing deeply.
"My apologies, Master Fenrir," he said respectfully. "I received a report from the Ministry. I thought it was them."
"No need to be nervous," Noah waved it off. "And drop the formality."
"We've known each other too long for that."
"...Alright, Noah. Long time no see."
Noah nodded.
William had grown stronger.
Almost stepping into the Eighth Tier.
Looking at him, Noah smiled faintly.
"You know why I'm here, don't you?"
"Yes," William nodded. "I don't know much about Kamar-Taj. I didn't dare investigate too deeply."
"It's just those people..."
"They feel very evil," Noah said flatly.
"Don't worry."
"As long as my teacher and I are here, Kamar-Taj won't collapse."
"There are just some fleas."
"Harmless."
"My mistake," William said quickly. "You're here about what they purchased, right?"
"Exactly," Noah replied calmly. "Fleas are annoying."
"Especially when they crawl into my territory."
"I'll prepare the list immediately."
William turned to retrieve the information.
Noah leaned back.
Waiting.
